where would I have picked up any promo stuff if I don't live in London or have Sky TV? ....see my point?

as for play on local radio, our station played it once as a hot new tune, the listeners then vote for if they like it or not - if they do it gets lots of play and if they don't it gets binned. It was the only time I have heard it as it got the big thumbs down and I now get to hear IML eveyday (no pum intended).

anyway my whole point of the post is that if it hits no1 on Sunday it will be a fix. if it wasn't for this site I would know nothing about the new single. by the way I live in Dorset.

But my point is that terrestrial TV and radio stations are not as important as they used to be. It used to be the be all and end oll of promoting - that is no longerthe case! The majority of people have the internet (which is a big promo tool) and cabel/digital/sky television. The ones without are in the minority...

completely disagree!!

there are substantially more people without satellite/cable than with (this is why the terrestial transmitters will not be switched for at least another 10 years because so many people have to transfer across) and there are probably (just) less people with internet access than with. Remeber you cannot include work access to the net because of firewalls etc and people at work cannot spend their time at work surfing for music news!!

just for the record I have internet access (obviously!), satellite tv and a radio and I still think that everyday has had very little promotion.

I have to agree with Bez, I dont think it has had that much promo, compared to past records. I reckon what will help the NO 1 spot is the 2 cds that have come out, gives them extra points. I think for BJ it will help them look good after 20 years a NO1 at last so why not put it up there. We all know they really deserve it, and being No1 is the best promo for the album to sell.
