that's my favorite Bon Jovi era and the best tour so far! I wish to have a time machine!
IMO one of the best show of the tour is Enschede, Jon's voice is awesome there, especially at I Believe

btw, i wanna talk to u guys about one thing. many ppl calling 1995 tour as These Days tour, even on setlist.fm...but this is a mistake.
1. The Setlist.
common setlist from 1995. only 2-3 songs from the album!
common setlist from 1996 have at least 6-7 songs from the album
2. The Stage.
the stage was different on 1995 and 1996. as a rule, the band doesn't change the stage for a tour, it's mean, that 1995 and 1996 is absolutely different tours.
3. The Promo Picture.
the promo picture for a tickets and posters, for 1995 tour it was a promo picture for Cross Road compilation, in 1996 different picture, i have a ticket for 1996 and it has a band name and the name of the album These Days
Also, i have a japanese CD of One Wild Night Live 1985-2001 compilation and it contains a booklet with every known live date, and 1995 tour marked as "Cross Road tour", 1996 tour as "These Days tour".
So. in my opinion. 1995 tour is not a These Days tour, but Cross Road tour.

That's correct. But... the 1995 started as the CrossRoad tour, but then "These Days" was released in june 1995 and they started playing more and more songs from the album in the second half of the year. I don't know if the name of the tour changed, e.g. was the american leg in the fall still called "Cross Road Tour"? I wouldn't think so. So with the release of the album the tour turned into TD-tour... at least in my book...

The Wembley shows are definitely more iconic but I think the Milton Keynes Bowl gigs on the KTF tour were even better.

I was fortunate to be at both - Wembley was as good as the DVD suggests but MKB was special. Both were fantastic. But I preferred the KTF one.

By the TD era, Jon's voice was slightly declining and Alec was gone. Still some awesome stuff (I'd Die For You! These Days!), but not QUITE as good. Same for the NJ tour.

I totally agree. KTF era/tour was so exciting. Those are my best memories of this band.

I don't know if it's due to Hugh being on board, use of backing/click tracks or whatever, but for me, the band only started sound *real* good with the 1995 tour. Don't get me wrong, of course they were great before, and Jon's voice was even better in 1993, but the band didn't sound as tight, the tempo on the songs was varying (and sometimes songs were played way too fast like Blood On Blood for example), and so on. From what I've seen on YouTube (since 1995 was my first concert), that changed for the better in 1995...

But all of that is subjective of course, since I'm something of a perfectionist

Hugh most definitely helped tighten the sound. I still prefer the KTF tour though. The band sounded alive, hungry and excited - more then on any tour since.

They've refined their sound over the years but that era, especially live, was more organic/heartfelt for me.

What medicine?

I think they looked lively because they had to fight to get a foothold in the industry again. The whole grunge scene had exploded. They had to be up for it. Early 90's was all Nirvana, Pearl Jam, Pumpkins, Soundgarden etc.

I remember an interview were Jon very openly admitted that playing to half empty Arenas had really fired him up. It was a challenge and made him want to prove everyone wrong.

They never had a problem in the UK regarding ticket sales but I'm sure in parts of Europe & America they struggled when KTF came out.

Edit: Going from being the biggest band in the World to sitting 4th or 5th on a US festival bill is a big eye opener. I can't remember what gig that was but I do remember the guy reviewing it for Kerrang actually commented how ****ed up it was seeing Bon Jovi lower on a bill than the likes of The Offspring. Also, Billie Joe from Green Day thought it was cool to do a piss take on Wanted Dead or Alive at that same gig/festival.

Jon had a lot of fire in his belly back in those days.

many years ago in some interview i remember Jon's words, he said that he can't look at pictures of himself in early 90's, coz he looked incredibly thin and it's all because of steroids, which doctors gave him, to performing without stops
