Everyone was so into what about now when it came out, and now everyone sees it as the worst album ever released.

Check back in 3 years - this album won't hold up.

So not true. There were people who liked it, but the general reaction here was much weaker compared to This House.

It's OK if you don't like it, but you should accept that the facts and figures:
http://drycounty.com/jovitalk/new-bo...ssions-t55110/
http://drycounty.com/jovitalk/new-bo...e-abum-t69729/

Average rating: 6.5 vs. 8.0

Okay sure but. You do see the decline of membership of this board, no? The majority of people had their last straw with what about now and are gone.

So, naturally it would make sense that those votes are skewed to the people who like incredibly poor mixed music, shotty production and are okay with jons voice just plain awful.

I wouldn't identify myself in any of those "skewings", but nice try. I believe things are a bit more complicated than this.

Board membership has been on decline for many years and that's understandable. The band is aging (and let's be honest, not too gracefully) and they never managed to gain a substantial amount of new fans.

Moreover, internet boards in general are rapidly declining. It used to be the place where even the not-so-hardcore fans would google the band and find it as a place to share their interests. Now, the more casuals use social media or a more modern version of forum, like reddit. Only dinosaurs like us remain. I would love to do more research on this, but I would guess that the same is the case for other older bands.

Having that said, if your theory was valid, then WAN would've been reviewed more favorable than The Circle, which is not true. I couldn't find any direct comparison "initial rating" thread (perhaps, it wasn't made at the time), but I do remember people liking The Circle, WAN - not so much. But someone who's an older fan could confirm this better than I do, cause I only started lurking here in 2009.

Anyway, if I were you, I would simply accept the fact that This House (perhaps, somewhat surprisingly) has been liked here and at least for now is considered a good record by modern standards; or better than their last few efforts.

But the thing is, that the circle WAS miles better than what about now in ever sense of the matter.

Today, i can see myself listening to 3 or 4 songs off that album. I havent listened to what about now since 2013.

Hey, Savvi! Is today the last day for voting? I know you said 10 days, but I'm not sure if 2/24 was included in the count or not.

If it is the last day, what time is the cutoff?

Sorry, I have had a ridiculously busy week/weekend (I even had to work on the public holiday - poor me). Voting will be open for another 2 days while I get myself sorted.

We have had nearly 50 people submit their votes so far which is so good. There are only two categories which have a clear winner, all the others are super close, so every vote counts!

The first two albums are arguably the best IMO and it's sad to see them ignored...

Best live performance hands down:

To me those Slippery Silent Night versions were waaaaay to slow which makes it hard listening to.
Performance-wise they were really good, yes.

Really? I'm on the complete opposite end... It's better than the album version and just pours out emotion.... Don't get me wrong, I think Loves The Only Rule is one of their best post 2K songs but the two aren't even comparable..
