Pretty sure they played the smaller part of the Eilenriedehalle in 1986 (section B I think). Just like they played a smaller arena inside the Westfalenhallen complex and not the bigger one like in 1988 and 1993.
There was a pretty big US military complex stationed in the city, so Jon took the US flag because of that. He did the same at the Monsters of Rock in Mannheim 1986.
