Default A conversation I had with a friend the other night

So I was talking with a 17 years old casual that’s going to see Bon Jovi this year…

Friend: “Hey, what is Bon Jovi playing?”
Me: “A bit of everything, you can't tell the setlist because they change it from night to night”
Friend: “But more or less you can know what they play, right?”
Me: “Yeah”
Friend: “Are they going to play All About Lovin’ You or Welcome To Wherever You Are?”
Me: “No…”
Friend: “Really? And what about Everyday?”
Me: “No, neither”
Friend: “This Ain’t A Love Song?”
Me: “They played it a few times this year, but I seriously doubt they’ll play it here”
Friend: “So what are they playing?! At least tell me they’ll play It’s My Life or Have A Nice Day”
Me: “Yes, they're playing those! They play Lost Highway and the old stuff, maybe That’s What The Water Made Me, What About Now and Because We Can”
Friend: “The hits? So they’re playing that new one… how it was called? What Do You Got. I love this song”
Me: “No, they dropped that one last tour”
Friend: “Thank You For Loving Me was all the time on MTV and on the radio, will they play that?”
Me: “No, they haven’t played that for like two years”
Friend: “That sucks”.

Not really, the songs he mentioned were huge in South America. Bon Jovi really missed the boat not touring those countries in 2003 and 2006 considering how big those songs have been over there. It's another example of Jon not realizing how big the differences in territory are when it comes to adjusting the setlist to a certain market.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Distinct lack of market research.

Its nice to see that your friend actually knows those songs. My friends only want the songs from the 80s.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

You're absolutely right, All About Loving You, Everyday, Misunderstood and Have A Nice Day - all hits in Brazil.

Mainly AALY and Misunderstood.

The only difference Jon knows about is removing these days songs when they enter US territory.

I remember being at the Circle concert in Melbourne back in 2010 and the guys in the row behind me were trying to work out what songs were left to play at about 3/4 through the show. I rattled off what I thought was left based on what they always play and sure enough I was spot on. I had a chuckle to myself thinking gee I have seen them play too often. Didn't occur to me that they never change the bloody set list
