Cool. Thanks for doing that.

One thing about Jon, he is very consistent. This would be the same things Jon would say about the music and videos in 2013. The Alec part was interesting.

Thanks for the translation! It was fun to read something from pre-SWW.

He'd still dislike the videos, that's it.

I doubt he'd say...
-he's in it for the girls
-he's in it for lust, not love
-that the first record's too poppy
-that he's influenced by Kiss, the Scorpions
-looks up to Motley Crue
-too dumb to talk about politics

Also, thanks a bunch for translating that one, Ice!

He admired Twisted Sister. Wow! That is a new one. Twisted Sister is one of the most underrated bands in the history of rock and I can't believe they are almost forgotten.

Also - interesting how he says he likes U2. In a later interview with Metal Edge in 1987 he bitches at U2 and REM for being critics darlings, but all the guys in Metal Edge doing the hard stuff, working their ass off every night etc etc.

Anyhow - I don't think there has ever been a band to go through more of a change than Bon Jovi have....

Cheers for bringing it up Ice.

As about the Scorpions - yes, he would still say that. In fact, he says just that in the latest documentary about them which will come out next year I believe.

Finally got the time to read this! Thanks for the translation!

It's interesting to read what Jon said about their first album, because that's actually what Jon would say about their second one nowadays. I've never heard him say anything bad about their first album, but there are several interviews where he says how they didn't understand why the first album didn't sell very well and so they tried to imitate what was popular at the time with "7800° Fahrenheit" not only music-wise, but also in terms of image (famous girlfriends, particular kind of clothing, make-up, etc.).

Quite the thing to read this as well, especially for how things went with Alec in the end and also for what's going on these days (I wonder if that's why Jon started practicing more lead guitar a few years ago):

So we travel to the next show worrying, me practicing the songs on bass just in case. So far he's always appeared on time…
