I think Jon and Richie's true acoustic playing is superb. I have a playlist on my iPod that gets a lot of rotation that is simply pro acoustic stuff:

For example:

Prayer,Wanted (Live acoustic MTV-Music Awards 1989)
Born To Be My Baby (Acoustic)
Goin Back Hammersmith Odeon 90
Imagine/Give peace a chance
Mrs Robinson (TFI Friday 1996)
Bridge Over Troubled Water (1996 Lifebeat)
TYFLM TMF Cafe
Sat Night TMF Cafe
Here Comes the Sun 2001-12-03 G Harrison

Gorgeous stuff - I had been hoping to get more of the same with a true acoustic album in 2003 - unfortunately I got TLFR.

Bad Medicine is one of my TLFR faves, along with YGLaBN and LoaP.

I love acoustic stuff but the arrangements of TLFR aren't my thing. Especially stuff like Bad Name and Bad Medicine which are fun rock songs, but TLFR makes them sound like they are meant to be really serious and kind of crappened them. I actually do like Bed of Roses & Born to Be My Baby on it though. And I don't mind Prayer & Wanted. But they're nothing compared to the originals. Bon Jovi's entitled to do what they like with their songs and the concept was interesting enough but the end result left a lot to be desired.

Playing TLFR versions live ruins every concert for me and I was glad that they only played TLFR versions 2 times out of my 9 shows during the HAND-tour, even though 2 times is still 2 times too often.
Exactly.
I was lucky enough to be in Kiel too and great acoustic versions like that should never - NEVER - be compared to the TLFR-crap.

TLFR has its moments - I really like Wanted, Prayer, Bad Medicine, IML, Everyday... The others have to fit my mood... while the versions of KTF, IBTFY and Always are just lame and superfluous. And that is a shame as BJ are such great acoustic players...

Anyone knows the "Wanted" acoustic version from 1986? Or the session in the Hard Rock Café New York back in 1995? Or look at the acoustic parts of their 1996 tour - "I'd Die For You" would have been the stuff that I'd like to hear on a BJ unplugged album.

That is what we all wanted - and expected - so it makes TLFR an even bigger disappointment.

I believe that the faster songs turned over to slow ballads would work better.
I'd die for you '96 is a good example.
Bad name, prayer, runaway sound good and the same happens with BTBMB.

Hammersmith '90. somebody mentioned it. Shooting Star. Great acoustic song.

The record should have been an acoustic record and not the dissapointment tha TLFR was with the "new" terrible versions.
