Default The Official Bon Jovi Vinyl Collecters Thread...

I just bought These Days on vinyl.

I don't have a way to play it but I think I'm gonna frame it for display. I have the first four albums on LP as well so I'll be on the lookout for KTF and Crossroad next.

Anyone else here have it?

Man, I wanna start buying vinyls too even though I have no way of playing them, it's just interesting to have them on vinyl for some reason.

I remember a few months ago I walked past a charity shop on my way to the bus stop to catch a bus to college. It had a vinyl record of Bruce Springsteen's "Dancing In The Dark" single in the window, it was like 75p. I promised myself that the very next morning I'd buy it. The next morning I walked to the shop and it was GONE! Oh boy, I was so disappointed.

Ok, so that story had nothing to do with the thread topic but I like to tell it to get sympathy votes.

"Awww" me people, "awww" me!

My new roommate actually has a full vinyl setup, so I'm going to start picking up records for the first time this coming year.

I have a different perspective on vinyl. I grew up with it and I had to deal with all its shortcomings. I was delighted when CD players first came out and I had the first Sony that was available. I got rid of my vinyl and never looked back.

I love CD's TBH, but if I have the vinyl player sitting in my apartment I will get some use out of it.

It's interesting that vinyls seem to be coming back in that several bands now release their albums on LP as well as CD and digitally.

I know Metallica's St. Anger and Death Magnetic were released this way as was The Killers newest, Day & Age and Green Day's 21st Century Breakdown.

Why do you think that is? Pure nostalgia?

Awesome purchase! For a long time I collected vinyl, but TD is one I never managed to get. I do remember seeing it as a double record. I guess it was out of my price range or something. There was also a vinyl release of Santa Fe that I never got because it was WAY out of my price range. The one time I saw it, I believe it was $900.

It has to do with the Audiophiles loving vinyl sound quality, combined with the fact that with most people relying on MP3/digital formats for music, they'll buy a vinyl for the physical ownership and "quality" home listening, while having a digital file for their IPod/MP3 TO USE FOR "casual" listening, hence why you'll see many vinyls packaged with a digital download code.

I've got a Slippery When Wet Collectors Edition Picture Disc on vinyl, and a vinyl Dry County single, with Stranger In This Town live as the b-side. Never listened to either of them though, I really should ... although I'm not sure we've got a record player anymore, so that may be easier said than done!
