Which gives songs quite a new light. There's of course stuff dedicated to his daughter and other personal things like the tracks Every Road, I'll Always Walk Beside You or the borderline-creepy Sugar Daddy (though the performance with Craig Ferguson was ace back then).
But Taking A Chance On The Wind, Nowadays, Weathering The Storm, Learning How To Fly With A Broken Wing, most definitely You Can Only Get So High and also Forgiveness Street / Backseat Driver seem to deal with his band frustration in various, but now almost glaringly obvious ways.
I can only recommend giving it a spin again. Not only because of that. Musically, it has its dull and cringey parts, but when it's good, it really has its strong moments. And these are probably stronger than quite a lot that came from Jon or him afterwards.

Spot on. The lyrics on Nowadays and Learning How To Fly With A Broken Wing are crystal clear.
