I do think age plays a factor. You are talking about 1988 when the guys were in their mid-late twenties and were pretty much up for nothing but touring, up to 2003 when they were in their early-mid forties with families, big difference.
Uh no, I was talking about the leaps 88 --> 93 (5yrs), 93-->96 (3 yrs), so far so good, only got better. 96-->00 (4 yrs), 00-->03 (3 yrs, yrs = years), well it sure didn't got better.

I didn't realize how bad it is thinking of pre-2000 when actually seeing the DVD in that order short after each other, it's amazing, and age doesn't do it... that's all I ment...I wasn't really interested in why it was because that has been discussed a zillion times

but if you want to...
Voices, energy etc etc, we all know where they got less, it's overall, its the passion...
Passion has got nothing to do with age, family - maybe only money or just lost interest and only doing for the money or any other reason..

I've only seen one show, and it was this year, and I thought it was great. Not sure which bootlegs you've been watching, but I think this tour especially they've been great. You can complain all you want about how they aren't as 'good' as they used to be, you're only wasting your own time. I enjoyed seeing them live this year and will see them again if I can in future, I realise that they are older and have other commitments so maybe don't 'give' as much as they might have done 10 years ago. To suggest that they are doing it for the money is ridiculous though because they could have stopped years ago and still been making money from continued sales of Slippery When Wet and Crossroad, they don't need to do it for the money, which I doubt is more important to them than their families anyway.

I think it was pretty much about the new generation...
The step from 96 to 00 was huge not just by counting the days but the music business was under a big constuction and I think if they had continued with the same energy and same set lists(which would had demanded a different type of Crush) they wouldn't be here... It was time to move on... Of course the 80s and 90s fans were little disappointed but BJ was reaching the whole new generation of people to continue BJ's glory... Which was smart I think..
This might sound like I went too far... maybe but still I think it has very much to do with this "problem" you are talking about...
Someone who became their fan by listening to Crush or Bounce might think that on the the long road from 84 to 06 they have just got better....
It is true that their live performances have changed a lot but I can also honestly say that the huge change hasn't been for bad.
The difference between KTF tour and Crush tour is enormous but still I like them both equally.

If you're not looking for reasons why there was a change, what's the point? You're asking us stuff only the band would know. If you're making a thread asking a question no one can answer, it seems to me at least, you're just trying to stir up trouble.

I don't buy this passion thing. The man is loaded, so if he ain't there for the money, the only other reason is that they enjoy it. Like any of us they have their good and bad days. There have been discussions about the weak setlist in Nijmegen, but I still think Jon was in a better shape than in 2003 and was having a good day. Although the songs were mediocre in choice (just because TD or DC wasn't played), it had a 7 song encore. Why ain't that passion?

I was just rulling out age....who says I need to find a reason? I only was trying to tell that me thinks age isn't a factor in that.

That can be reason enough...if you don't agree with that please make a thread about that, I'm happy to go further into that...

That's just the impression I was under. How many more threads are going to be made looking for the reason they're not as into it anymore. No answers are ever provided, and unless Jon and/or Richie sign on here, none ever will be. We get it, people think they're not as great as they used to be. What did you expect to be revealed? Meh.

...age is not a factor...life is.....with all it's many facets...the older you are the more you find... and the thinner you have to spread your passion across all the different facets!

I would love Jon and the Band to hold music making and performing as their highest passion..but in reality it's just not going to happen!...Sadly I think it's become too much of a work ethic for them!...they should take time out...proper time out...2yrs at least...so they can look at it from a different perspective and see how amazingly brilliant they are at it!...and NOT strike when the iron is hot! (ok makes money but satisfaction is short lived)

Jon also carries a huge ego around with him.
