I'm not convinced the reason stated by the organisers is 100% true. The band have played loads of gigs on very ordinary stages. Why would they now want an elaborate stage for what is only an hour show?
Like you said - it dosen't make sense.

That sucks for all those people who bought tickets just to get that show. But I guess that's what happens when you're only supporting a sport because your favorite musician owns the team. Anyway, I don't see how that could be a good enough reason to cancel the show...

The show wasn't for Jon's team, it was for a team in New York.

Like you said - it dosen't make sense.
Same over here... they played the smallest venues, they can fit the performance to the stage... it sounds a bit strange to me...
