Sweet! So, I'm back in the game!

I can't seem to find any websites that have definite answers.

Thanks again to everyone who's been responding!

nope!Don't do that...

WORLDWIDE:
Bon Jovi - ariund 100.000.000
U2 : around 105.000.000 :i read that on some fansite of theirs so the difference ain't that big.You didn't lose the battle!
I'm 95% sure these numbers are correct. I remember searching for u2's worldwide total and 105,000,000 was the common number among the web site. I'm a die-hard bon jovi fan and until the day i die, I will always defend bon jovi(and the fans) in arguments against u2. But keep the following information in mind:
Bon jovi's total is based only on ACTUAL albums sold, not singles. Some of the u2 websites state 105 million with the term "records". In the music industry record is a term for "singles". That is why a lot various media/critics(both for and against) in the past year acknowledge the fact that bon jovi has actually sold 100 million ALBUMS, not records. If we took into consideration the singles sales such as IML(2 million) Always (1 million) Bad Name(1 million) and all the other singles Bon Jovi would of hit the 100 million mark proably at the same time crush was released and sold more than u2 by a couple of million. Also bon jovi have released 11 albums compared to 14 by u2 (with a new release this year so 15 by the end of 2004). Bon jovi have outsold u2 (along with aerosmith) on a per- album basis 9.1 million to 7.5 million.
Do not give your friend $20 Bon jovi has sold more and is a bigger band than u2.
Bon jovi-4-ever

Are you sure this is a fact or just your opinion? You also have to take into consideration that U2 has been in the business longer and that they have released more albums as opposed to Bon Jovi. So I don't think those numbers mean much when you look at the bigger picture. BTW, U2 are in my top bands and I would love to see them in concert. I think they are great!

It is a fact that U2 have sold more, as I know they went over the 100 million albums mark a long time ago and Bon Jovi have only just/are about to reach it.

And they've only released a couple more albums than Bon Jovi, not too many. In terms of sales per album they're probably about the same. I'd be willing to bet though that U2 have more consistent sales, as Bon Jovi's are extremely boosted by a couple of really major selling classic albums.

Whether you like U2 or not (I do, but not as much as Bon Jovi), they have millions of fans and some classic songs that just everyone recognises.

I've just had a look on a U2 website, and they first released an album in 1980, 4 years before Bon Jovi. Discounting greatest hits and fan club only releases, they have 11 albums, I think, but it could go up to 15 if they're included.. So that would explain why they've sold more.

However, I'd suggest Bon Jovi have only sold as many as they have because of a couple of albums i.e. Slippery, that were MASSIVE, albums you only get once a decade. U2's have been more consistent, while Bon Jovi have relied on hits.

My analysis, feel free to disagree.
