All I know about drumming is the basics I've picked up with my drummer this past few months. But I honestly can't stand the kind of drummers that play to stand out, to me they just comepletely **** up the song, The drums should compliment the song, and that's exactly what Tico's an expert on doing.

NJ! I also think this album has the best drum sound.....

On the subject of Tico's drumming, is it just my imagination or is Tico not hitting as hard as he used to since Crush?

Aye true, although a shit hot drummer can sometimes show off a little live and it can make a song better.

The only studio Bon Jovi songs were I've really noticed the drumming though is LYHOM and Sleep When I'm Dead. Both got good beats.

dunno about that. When I saw them on the crush tour he was actually really sloppy, always seemed to be playing behind instead of on-top of the beat, i thought he was just getting old but the times I've seen him since he's been spot on.

As for the question at hand, these days by a country mile not only for the fact that drumming along to slippery is incredibly more easy to do than these days but also because there's alot of little ghost hits and fancy hits lying underneath the beat that you need to listen out for but makes the drumming so much more interesting.

On a related note, anyone listened closely to the drumming during the first verse of Always? It's somewhat bizarre ...
as for the always drumming, the only strange thing I can think of is that it sounds like he's cross sticking the rim but is actually rolling them, I have no clue how you would even get close to doing something that unless it's a woodblock he's playing but it sounds the same as when he's doign single clicks in the lead up to the chorus .

If you listen properly, in the 1st bar when the full band kicks in he goes 1 and 2 and 3 and A 4 and.... on the hi hat. That's basically the pattern he's doing on the rim in the verse so it's not straight 4/4 quavers on the hat either if that's what you mean?
