From my point of view, the problem is that the sh*t they put out these days *is* what they like to put out, not that they're forced to do so. It's called "selling out".

Dont get me wrong, I do hope someone kicks some sense into their heads & they choose to put out something not so mediocre-mainstream-chart-pop, cos I am quite sure they still can create something more original. If only they put bit more effort in writing/recording.

I slightly misinterpreted your thoughts then, but still... that they are not as much into it anymore as 15 years back doesn't mean they are unhonest to themselves. I think they truly appreciate what they have and they are in a point in their career where they want to live what they gained.

Ok, I can deal with that. Thanks for explaining yourself further.

Sure, maybe they truly appreciate it. But don't do it in the name of the fans. We've been hearing for 4 years that everything is done for the fans, while not many of the fans they were aiming at in the beginning (all the fans after TD) appreciated all their stuff that much.

"After These Days the fans deserve a rock album" - Crush.
"The fans deserve a good live album" - OWN.
"We've made a heavy guitar influenced album for the fans" - Bounce. "TLFR is a present for the fans" - TLFR.

I can't think of any one from the fanbase after These Days who thinks those 4 examples are good gifts for fans. Things that make the fan happy. IML gained a new fan base, the teeny boppers, and it seems like Bon Jovi is forgetting the fans who stayed loyal, and keeps aiming at the quick cash in.

The only thing since These Days that really made up their promise was the box set. That was something that was obviously made for the loyal fans. And not the teeny boppers who leave after a few bad singles.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I guess what it all comes down to is personal taste and what each individual wants musically from the band.

There is always going to be conflict and differing opinions about that.

I like some of the songs on 7800 and some I dont particularly like.

I think TD and KTF are two of my favourite albums of theres. See I like the litle bit of pessimistic or dark (though I really dont think its that dark) lyrics. I love that they developed a bit with those albums and moved on from the cheesiness.

Crush they bought back alot of cheesiness and Bounce I found a little to cliche and not really something I got passionate about.

New Jersey is probably my all time favourite BJ album in that it represents everything I love about BJ. Its just an all time classic in my opinion.

I think they need to get truthful and stop writing about things they think will please people. Write about what they experience. Dont write a love song if they dont feel those things. Dont write a breakup song if they havent lived it. Honesty is what moves people.

Kat
