Now, you guys are so anti-7800 that it hurts. Why's that? well.....sure, 7800 has bad production, and it is bit different from rest of the albums. Different? so is TD. 7800 is heavier that rest of the bunch, also IMO darker. It's not serious albumtho , it's an attempt to avoid cheesiness of mainstream hairmetal at the times it came out. It's a brave effort damnit. Compared with TD, 7800 is up-beat and a lot more rocking album (and ain't it rocking that jovi is supposed to be about?)....
Compositions? heavier, yes. But still catchy like the debut. With proper production or even slightly updated live-arrangements those tracks would kick a** compared to crap that's filling recent setlists. Give it a thought.

Weepy-whiny TD is always so overrated here, while rough edges that make rock what it is and should be, are always put down. My conclusion, heh: Jovicommunity ain't a community of rockfans (well few exceptions, of course) but a community of mainstream followers. Nothing wrong with mainstream pop, I just don't like most of it.

I agree with you here Stone - I love 7800. For awhile I thought it was mostly nostalgia but I have really come to appreciate this album. On the other hand I like TD for what it is, unlike 7800 the sound is gorgeous and I have always been a sucker for good sound.

One thing I see from your two threads here is that there are a lot lot of people with different "favorite" albums or eras. Maybe that's why this band still appeals to a wide variey of people.

Opinions indeed. If some 8 out of 10 says it's their best effort, I'd for sure call it overrated. IMO.

BOUNCE is by far their worse album. I would have thought with all their experince that they would know how to make a good album by now! but bounce was utter crap.

There is no need to put 'maybe' :P

Crush

To me this album is the beginning of the end, ever since they're just trying too much without getting the right results. And I just hate that . It's sad...

It's not really. It might be the favourite around here (it sure is mine :P) but it's one of their worst-selling albums, the band is not very supportive of it either and the songs there are hardly played. In the big scheme of things I don't think it's overrated *at all*.
