These Days. It's the album that brought me back to BJ --- mind you, I didn't buy or listen to it until 2000.

Love the lyrics --- I can relate to most of them and at that part in my life, I could relate to them extremely well. Also, I think it has the most 'from the guts' feel of any of the albums.

New Jersey for me! I never tire of listening to it. NJ was the first tour I saw the band on and that's when I really "got it".

I don't think there is a bad song on NJ whereas for me These Days and KTF although great albums always have a song or two I skip. NJ isjust one great track after another. Classic Jovi

These Days

I love this one .. the darkness .. the 'depressing' feel.
Aspecialy when in a "this *thing* cant be" feeling
Good for a hardy cry

Another vote for These Days from me.

Great lyrics, great music and the best singing Jon has done as far as I'm concerned. Not a duff track on the album - even Diamond Ring; the weakest track, is good and the rest are amazing.

I can listen to the album over and over again without ever getting bored of it. Have recently listened to it for the first time with headphones on and am hearing new things on every listen.

NEW JERSEY

Ca. 1990 I listened day and night to two copied tapes of 7800 and SWW my brother handed to me. I knew shit about Bon Jovi but I definitely enjoyed what I heard. (For the record: Eastern Germany got western releases, let's say, delayed.) Then, around the time I discovered Jons first solo effort and my brain made the connection that this is the guy from those two tapes, I looked for "new" (i.e. new to me) material by this band. What I found was New Jersey, and man, I was hooked. Considering that I LOVED what I already knew this was like a quantum leap.

So far the intro, now my reasons.
Where to begin, how to sort it... Well, obviously it has what I think describes Bon Jovi most basically: melodic rock songs. Retrospectively, I still think it is very straight, similar to KTF. It has this unique sound that, in my opinion, results from the clear-cut musical style and techniques (except LFS*), the lyrical content and attitude and the over-all production. Don't know if I am clear, but I fancy that if I wouldn't know the songs, I still could tell they belong to the same album. Something that only applies to NJ and KTF, in my eyes. Mind you, not because of the production quality only!

The fact that it virtually was just some sort of vastly done SWW2 and its above described yet unique outcome makes it exceed the '86 break-through record. I think SWW is an extremely good album, but a little bit too mixed, too experimental for my taste. Again, this is not quality-wise. There was the organ, the horns, the female voices, the talk box and it's all good but too differing to create what NJ creates for me.

I perceive the songs of the album as pleasantly positive and fresh, optimistic and strengthening. The music is of an explosiveness that, as a whole album, it has no peer (note: one thing why I like Love Me Back To Life so much).

Further on there is the cover. I always liked it. The image itself, it always made me feel as if I look on a monument. Plus the message, this is us, we're from New Jersey, the place that quite often is only referred to as the rubbish tip of NY, be it in films, books etc. New Jersey is where we come from and we are proud of it. This album is like their CV or their business card.

A lot of these things also apply to KTF. This is where the sentimental part sets in. NJ being my first love is the reason why KTF is only a very close second.

*LFS, the exception of the rule. To me it is the song that although totally different, it punctuates the uniqueness even more. It breaks the coherence of the previous 11 tracks in such a charming way. So, to me it says, yes, all you just heard, was REAL!
And then I go: REPEAT ALL!

I think this is also a very important aspect. Is your favourite album of the band automatically what you think is the band's best album?
I say, no. Artistically, I think it is indeed TD. Doesn't mean I like it best.

At _least_ 2 ballads, Living In Sin and I'll Be There For You. Ride Cowboy Ride could be classified as a ballad and STYG is pretty-ballady also.

I have two, New Jersy and KTF.
New jersey because this album encapsulates what BJ was in the eighties and whenever I put it on I remember why i fell in love with this band.
KTF because it showed me where BJ was heading. I was growing up and thank GOD so were they.

Goodamn guys, sure yeah we all have 2 or 3 or 5 favourites, but I asked for 1!..thats *ONE*, not two.

Point about deciding which ONE is your fav is that it's easy to list several ones you like, but picking out just one is way more difficult, that means you have to put aside some great stuff. Previous discussions about albums have all ended up with people liking close to everything except fahrenheit. I was curious about your opinions, why that ONE particular album is the best one for you. But no, either people cant read or dont understand what they read

SO EVERYONE STARTING WITH "I HAVE TWO..." or "IT'S EITHER...", EDIT YOUR POSTS WILL YA.
