I heard a zillion bootlegs but I never heard any major mistakes anyway so I would guess the whole story was being exagerrated after the interview. Although, in ACCESS ALL AREAS Tico is very pissed with Alec for making some dumb mistake and Alec was saying "That's how it was supposed to be!"...well...I guess a combination between Hugh and Alec would be great but since there has to be one, I would definitely prefer Alec for he had the ATTITUDE

It does amuse me the way that everyone on this board is so adamant that "It's all about the music", until this topic comes up ....

Tell that to Richie and Dave. Richie made it very clear in Behind the Music that he was sick of covering Alec's mistakes. Maybe that's why you don't hear any major mistakes on bootlegs--Richie and Dave were taking up the slack. You don't get true quality on a bootleg, but they hear each other through their monitors, so I'll take Richie's word over a fan's opinion of some bootleg.

I was thinking the exact same thing but I knew if I said it, another argument would happen but screw it. It IS hillarious that people get so angry at those who are just in it for Jons looks, then turn around and say they like Alec over Hugh simply because he looks cooler. It's ironic.

Yet when you think about it, it most of the time are the same people who take the piss over Hugh and are defending Hugh. People like DevilsSon. And it's not like a reply from DevilsSon has ever made any sense, now has it? So no surprise there.

Well Becky, when Richie was covering mistakes for Alec, he still managed to run around, to play the **** out of his guitar and to have some decent backing vocals. What does he do now? Oh...he shows the finger to the crowd saying Have A Nice Day! Awesome! I wished he covered some mistakes again to be honest. How the hell can you cover bass mistakes anyway? Did Richie predict the moment when Alec was going to make a mistake and right then he played the guitar even harder so noone hears it? And please, stop quoting that Behind The Music Show in half of your posts. It's a PR show. They had to talk about Alec. They had to justify why he is not part of the band. May I remind you that the first official statement was saying that Alec LEFT the band because he finally fulfilled his dream of having a Motorbike shop. Nobody way saying a word about "making mistakes". Why do you never quote that? Because you have already chosen the version of the story which you like best.


Now for all of you who are bashing Alec - have you ever heard him making a mistake? Have you ever talked to somebody who went to a concert before Alec was fired saying, "the show sucked big time because the bass player was constantly making mistakes" ? I don't think so.

Fact is: Bon Jovi were a better live band WITH ALEC . Now Hugh probably plays better but since they now brought a second guitar player, a second keyboard player why couldn't they just bring a second bass player who just sits in the back and plays.

Yes. There's even one of them released officially on some Spanish promo. Most bootleg collectors know about the infamous "Thanks Alec, it's in D". Also, another show in Argentina 1993 in which Alec is completely off key. So there.

So you could moan that it's fake to have a bass player behind the curtain. What's the point of that anyway, a bass player on stage not playing at all but just being cool? What do you think Bon Jovi is, a boyband, you mong?
