Question All That Really Matters

Hey, I've been lurking and enjoying the threads for a while, good to be registered now.

All That Really Matters is one of my favorite Richie songs, I prefer it over many Jovi ballads. I've been trying to find out when it was performed, but I couldn't find much information unfortunately. What I did find were these:

- Acoustic version, don't know where or when it was played

- Roxy Bar TV Studio, Italy, 21 April 1998

- Kafe Antzokia, Bilbao, Spain, 15 April 1998

Does anyone know if there were more performances of this song? I'd be grateful for any help!

Also, I couldn't find anything at all about the spanish version. Was it released as a B-Side, only in Spain, or not at all.....?

This is from the Craig Kilborn Show in 1998.

I think it was also played in Tokyo and Nagoya in Japan.

I don't think this has ever been released officially. There is another alternative version (in english) from the japanese early release.

It was supposed to end up on a South American edition of Undiscovered Soul, much like Miro A Tu Ventana by Jon Bon Jovi ended up on a South American edition of Destination Anywhere. The plan was cancelled and a few weeks later the song was leaked online.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

They had the interwebz back in 1998?!! I can't even remember if I was online then..doesn't matter, as I doubt I had the capability to stream song without crashing my computer.. Napster came a long a year or two later and I vaguely recall spending almost a week trying to download ''Real Life''..

Good times.

I prefer the studio version that was on the Japanese version of Undiscoverd Soul, not the bonus track, the actual song. It's only slightly different but for some reason I like it much better. No drum beat at the beginning, a few more lyrics, just sounds more raw to me. Most of the songs on the Japanese version differ from the regular version. The album was released months earlier there and it seems they tweaked some stuff before putting out to the rest of the world.

Hm I didn't think they differed THAT much. Few tweaks, yeah. All that really matters to me was the only one that was substantially different.

The songs I noticed the most were...All That Really...In Hard times there is no keyboard during the intro, I always noticed that quite a bit and Undiscovered Soul the song the intro is different....and of course no harmonica in God Is a woman, which I think was played by Steven Tyler. I think.

The Undiscovered Soul song was better in the japanese release, I think. Also, that intro to Who I Am is awesome.

Thanks a lot for the help, I appreciate it! It doesn't seem the Tokyo and Nagoya performances are available, hoping they'll pop up some day.

I've never listened to the Japanese version of the album, but now I'm really curious.

Yep it's him. Credited under Lippy LaRue if I recall.
