This band has more than had it's fair share of cheesy lyrics over the years. I happen to think the Jesus/Pope, Heroin/Dope line from STBI is simply brilliant.

Then again I think
"We got it goin on, Getting down with Big and Rich & Richie and Jon" is the lamest thing I have ever heard in a BJ song. Just goes to show you how different our opinions can be at times

I actually like that line. Sure it's cheesy, but the way it is sung I think is pretty cool!!!
You started this thread by stating that was gonna be your last post (for a while) BUT you have kept on posting.

So what's it gonna be?

I've stated on here before that I am not a big fan of These Days. It's not because of the lyrics, it's just because I think too many of the songs on the record simply aren't very good. On the contrary, TD has one of my favorite BJ songs: "Something For The Pain".

I've also stated here before that Bounce is probably my favorite album since New Jersey. Many of you thought I was nuts and told me about the negative lyrics on that album, post 9/11. I just don't hear it. I didn't hear it then and I don't hear it now. I think the album flows better than anything since Slippery. From top to bottom, a solid record.

But hey, to each their own.

That said, does anyone here hold BOTH of these albums in extremely high regards? Just curious....

I do rate them both highly.

I think These Days is superior, purely because the album flows better as a whole than Bounce. Each song compliments the next exceptionally well.

Bounce though - I think is great for a couple of reasons. Being generally a metal fan ( and I always cop shit for liking Bon Jovi the most - from my friends - they can **** off) I was rapt by the heaviness of Bounce IE: Undivided, Everyday, The Distance, Hook Me Up - that bone crunching bass used at the start of Undivided is priceless!!!!

Unfortunately I think there are a couple of wishy-washy songs on it that were chosen above some excellent B-Sides.

If Standing, Postcards, No Regrets & Something to Believe were included on it instead of several "other" tracks, then it could have almost been my favorite.

Did you drank the wrong tea or ate the wrong mushrooms?

If that's the case then I must have too. I can see it now that I look for it. Maybe Dave was fullfilling a lifelong dream of being the Easter Bon Bunny.

The production is extremly good, not like Crush or Have A Nice Day, those two got a bad production.
There's some great instrumentation on it two that we've never heard since the 90's... The mandolin, the sitar, the accordion, and the trombone and trumpet...
This as parts that raise the album. It's not only a regular album, it has a touch of stars in it.
I gotta second this, the production is outstanding .... there's so many layers but it never sounds cluttered ... the outro to Letting You Go is a perfect example
