Default Altiyan Childs - Livin' on a Prayer (X Factor Australia)

A lot of people hate this guy but anyone who's been closely following me on Twitter the past four weeks will have noticed that I'm pretty much in love with him.

Anyway mah boy, X-Factor's Mr Eccentric, Altiyan did Livin' on a Prayer tonight.

Performance with judges' comments:
http://au.tv.yahoo.com/x-factor/video/-/watch/22369080/ (might be blocked in other countries)

Intro package, performance and comments:
(hopefully not blocked or pulled)

Performance only should be up on http://www.youtube.com/thexfactoraustralia by tomorrow, though it could be blocked because some clown at FremantleMedia has yet to work out how to use the Internet.

"You're a fruit loop." ROFLOL

That wasn't bad. Not bad at all. Of course, it's one hell of a good song. Thanks, Lee-Ann.

You can love him all you like.Lets' see if you'll purchase his new cd if he ever releases 1.

The show is a joke.Kyle Sandilands for ****s sake telling this guy he's a rockstar because he sang livin on a prayer. What a good laugh.

What about the rest of the judges?Natalie Imbrulia?Hasn't had a hit since 1997.Ronan who's career is in the toilet and the one and only Guy Sebastian who has done fk all as well.Tried his luck in the usa and nobody wanted to know about him.

So please spare us the b/s.Just leave it up to the pros who can actually write songs and perform. Not some glorified karaoke contest.

I dont watch the show every week. I just catch glimpses of it. I got sick of it after the first live show. But when I heard someone was doing Bon Jovi I had to watch. And then when I heard that Altiyan was doing it iwas like "NOOO! He's gonna murder it!" ... but I was really impressed! And it was the highlight performance of the night.

Typical that it takes a Bon Jovi song to get the show to it's climax :P

Btw, for those who dont know, the theme of the night was party songs.

I admit I thought he'd kill it as well. But I have to admit, he didn't do a bad job, it was quite good.

Yeah I was a bit nervous in all honesty. After all, it's a tough song to pull off and coupled with the tonsillitis and his perceived overacting (which I actually dig, including when Jon does it ) I was worried it would be a trainwreck. He did Team Altiyan proud though.

Time to put on a Masonia (his old band) CD methinks.

He had to rely a lot on the backing singers though. He couldn't hit the high notes in the chorus. I thought it was pretty average to be honest, but when you compare it to Jon's recent performances of the song then it doesn't seem too bad.

Not brilliant but still better than Jon.

Anyway notice how he doesn't attempt to match Jon's 80s high notes. He just sings it at a different pitch within his own range (not the whoa whoa part but the living on a prayer part). I always wondered why Jon doesn't do this rather than holding the mic up to the crowd...

He hit every single high note, as far as I can hear. With ease, almost. He played it safe, though; the song is played a note lower, from Dm and the modulation is just half a step to Ebm. Judging from this, it's possible he could've nailed it in the original key. A good singer.

A 24 year old Jon would've kicked his ass, tho.
