I'd assume it made its way into the lyrics after visiting a club / pub in the UK where some Army types (or alas some dirty students) introduced Jon and the boys into the amusing game of Save The Queen

Another lyric question: At the end of Its Hard, Letting You Go, I know what he says live "It's been 400 years 200 days I curse every minute since you've been away" and know he says something similar on CD, but I can nver pin exactly what it is

That is what he says, isn't it. "it's been 4000 years, 200 days, I curse every minute since you've been away. It's hard, letting you go, letting you go."

That's how I hear it anyway.

Don't need a turntable to do that. There are quite a few programs that will do it.
