Ah well, each to their own, but if ya don't mind telling me. Why do you hate These Days? I know there's a couple of weak songs but it's got some of Bon Jovi's best songs on it.

I'm so happy to see many people like TD...
Usually ppl say it's a dark album with dark lyrics and melody...
I dont think like that.
It's the best f*cking album they ever released! With the best lyrics!

I seriously dont know why they dont take advantage of the great music in there and work with them live.
They seem to remember only Diamond and These Days...

God, if we had a chance to show them....ugh.

I don't love These Days as much as others here do, but I do think it's a mostly great album. First and foremost, the title track is probably the all-around best song this band has ever produced. Musically, lyrically, vocally it's absolute perfection from the opening piano to the harmonica. In fact the first four songs are an amazing sonic experience. Hey God is the best hard rocker they've ever done, Something For The Pain is a brilliant hooky/catchy song, and TAALS is probably the best of the "Big 3" 90's ballads. The rest of the album has some great tracks (Damned, My Guitar, Something to Believe In) and good tracks (Diamond Ring, Lie To Me) but IMO it gets dragged down by 3 of my absolute least favorite Jovi songs (IHLYG, ITWIT, HBE). That being said, I do love the record. The themes are great, though I think another song in the angry vein of Hey God on the back end my have helped. Though I will always think that the best Bon Jovi album of the 90's is Keep The Faith.

You know I was rocking out to KTF in the gym earlier on and it made me realise that I've never actually listened to These Days with headphones so I'm going to retire to my budouir with some of James Bon Jovi's vintage 2010 reserve and give it a spin to see what layers you don't pick up when playing it through a stereo.

Best album by the band by far and certainly in my top 10 of all time.

TD pisses all over KTF. The second half of KTF is plain boring. TD and NJ are the best BJ have to offer!

I was 18 when These days came out and whilst I liked it right away, it wasn't until some years later that I realised how awesome the album is and it eventually became my favourite. Most of the songs are well written musically and lyrically and don't have the 'bubblegum pop/rock' feel of recent releases. There are weakish songs on it, but I think every song, even the two UK bonus tracks, fit in to the album. Maybe Jon & Richie were in a blues type of mood, maybe for a short period of time their minds were open to other things, in any event, I think this was the creative peak.

When Crush came out, IMO it was a step to the side rather than a progression of the band and I was fine with that, as I think it's still a great album 10 years on. But for me, Bounce, HAND, LH and The Circle are using the same formula as Crush, but with less successful results.

I really don't understand the infatuation of These Days. Good on an artistic level but the album as a whole does nothing for me.

This album wasn't big in the us.

I don't know

I wonder why? I think I know, but would probably offend half the people on here. For want of a better explanation maybe it was just the wrong time to release a record like that in the US. Maybe the general public were more into Grunge or some other genre. You can't deny though that are are some great songs on that album. Not just on an artistic level but on a performance level as well. It tanks the hell out of everything they've done since.
