TD for me will always be special, specifically for the title track, whenever anybody asks me what's my favorite song, it doesn't really matter how long it's been since I've heard it, I always go back to the title track. It's just breathtaking and I wish they would give themslves more credit for this great period in their songwriting carreer 'because it really was in the 90's that Jon and Richie (and desmond) really proved they were above all the rest of their former contemporaries both commercially and sonically...
As I always say: KTF is strong until the middle - the second half is plain boring...

Music doesn't have that kind of hold on me. I can listen, enjoy the mood and not be affected to the extent that it alters my mood. These Days has a certain tone that I enjoy, it feels real and organic. It's the album that made me fall in love with the band and since I've been disappointed with every release.

See, it doesn't hit me that way. It's certainly more serious than Slippery but it doesn't hit me as a drag or dark and depressing. Personally I think it contains some of their best writing.

Hey God? Something For The Pain? This Ain't A Love Song? These Days?

There's not a positive song on the record. Usually there's an optimistic line or two or at least some sort of light in Bon Jovi songs. These Days has virtually none. Diamond Ring is probably the only song that doesn't deal with cheating, broken hearts or people down on their luck.

It's maybe not the most uplifting album but it's definitely not up their with the likes of OK computer and tom joad for outright making you feel empty by the end...

These Days is just a cracking album. I don't see how it's depressing. It has a lot of good songs and they're more serious than on the average Jovi album, but they're not exactly Radiohead are they. Just good songs played by a good band with their standard instruments, without being a hair metal album as SexxAtraxxion would (somewhat bemusingly) like them to be.

I'd hate to sit you down with some Nick Drake. You'd shoot yourself.

I'd first shoot you and the CD player.

I like songs of These Days, but as a whole it's too much. I probably haven't listened to it all the way through after 1997. To me Bon Jovi peaked between KTF and TD. After that it's been a downhill.

Oh Lord, I love Tom Joad, and it has two of my favourite all time Bruce tracks on it, but Jesus Christ I feel like life ain't worth living whenever I listen to the album.
