It doesn't. It just gives him another reaon to cry and moan about how horrible Jon Bon Jovi is. I'm sure he doesn't even care to acknowledge that ANYONE'S voice changes after a decade or two...especially someone who sings for a living.

KTF!
Shut up. What I meant was, In These Arms has lost all it's power since it's tuned down this much. It's not even the normal half key down, but it's one and a half key down which means completely different chords. Sure the progression is still the same, but it just doesn't sound right anymore when it's played in D. Plus there are no screams in the song anymore, which made it that powerful.

And ofcourse I know a voice changes after so many years, but all you people claiming that it's the age are forgetting that there are much more singers who don't have the problem Jon has with his voice as there are singers who do. Yes he blew up his voice, I know that, but if he was able to sing that great on the KTF, ISWID, Here There And Everywhere and TD tours, then he should be able to do better on the tours after them right ?

A song like ITA is supposed to be powerful, and nowadays all the power is gone, just because it's tuned down this much. And it's not only because of Jon that it sounds that bad nowadays, however, it's done because of Jon, that's all.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

I have to totally agree... I know Joey is one of Jon's favorites, but it's one song I don't ever listen to by choice.

Even at half a tone down its different chords Seb they just play it in the same place through detuning, so just cos they play different chord shapes doesn't mean it loses anything really other than pitch.

I don't know about a lot of people here but I actually think the live versions (tuned down a half-step) sound better than the recorded versions. It just characterises a live performance and enhances the bass frequencies in songs which gets everyone pumped up. I don't see it as, 'Jon can't sing that high anymore - that's why they do it.' I see it as sounding more gutsy, rugged and everything you'd expect from a live rock gig.

funnilly enough. tunning down creates a bigger sound so you're talking out of your arse as usual Seb.

to be honest, half a step doesn't make a radical difference in terms of vocals. it isn't a massive drop. it isn't that factor which takes the power out of the live performances, it's all the things added in the background at recording and production such as layered vox etc.

dropping a guitar half a step down is a lot better on the old fingers for bends aswell

I second that one - especially bending higher up the neck at 20-22!! Skin off the fingers job!
