Whatever works to motivate someone to improve their life is good. It's rather assinine to laugh at people who are doing something good for themselves, no matter what the reasons. If one person looses weight because of a family history of diabetes and another looses weight to fit into her favorite pair of jeans, what difference does it make if the end result is the same improvment.

Thanks Becky I was going to say the same. This is just a way to obtain a goal. I really don't think any of these posters are trying to lose weight in hopes they will have a better chance of hooking up with a band member.

You're right, Becky, but I wonder why they feel the need to tell it everyone. To me, it seems a little lack of respect for people who really have problems of weight or alimentation. It sounds weird to me, believe me

Because telling it to someone makes them accountable? Maybe they feel like they will stick to their goals more if they have someone to share the successes and struggles with. Here is a group of people with a common interest and a common goal. Good for them. I hope they all succeed.

yup.

is it daft? yeah but it's not really that different than saying to a mate i want to be down to X weight by time we go on holiday is it?

different strokes for different folks. lots of different motivators for people to get fit and lose weight. some just like being in shape and love the gym, somne hate the gym but love being in shape, some realise they need to lose weight, some need to for health reasons, some decide to do it for somethign coming up like a wedding etc... it's all good IMO

Maybe its just me who finds it strange that someone feels they have to "get in shape" for a tour. :s I just wonder what half these people do when there is no tour on does life come to a complete stop???!!

There's a difference between losing weight for the benefit of your health and for going to a concert. How about after the gig? All the girls who ate only those healthy sallads for one week will run to McDonalds to order a double cheeseburger, 22 nuggets, big portion fried and, oh yeah, a DIET coke.

Don't make me laugh, it's really pathetic!

You're right, I just didn't explain me well. I mean that it feels weird TO ME to read this, because Bon Jovi really helped me to go through very difficoult periods, and in a very opposite way. But this is just my feeling and i don't think that all these girls are silly!!

I think that shows ignorance too. Sure, some people are overweight because they eat massive amounts of food. But some people could eat all that crap and still be skinny. Others starve themselves and are still overweight. You can't judge someone's struggles based on your own experiences. Maybe if the people loose weight for whatever reason, they'll like the results enough to stick with what works.
