Ahem I did have a problem with my weight and lost quite a bit last year, although im not overweight now I still find it difficult to maintain it. I wouldnt laugh at anyone trying to lose weight, but im sorry I cant help but laugh at these backstage posts. Its like its ok to be fat until a BJ tour comes along , oh I better do something about it now, thats what I dont get. To me I dont really care what I look like when going to see a concert, and yes I do think alot of them do go trying to get Jons Attention, iv seen it for my own eyes.

Any time you get a big group of women together, be it in real life or on a message board, diets will be a subject. So, I don't think it's that odd that in an off topic forum people are talking about dieting together. If anyone is doing it because they think they'll have a shot with a band member, then, yeah, they're pretty messed up in the head. But if they're doing it to make themselves feel better, then I don't think it's that bad.

I've struggled with my weight all my life and maybe if I'd had a support group, I wouldn't have made some of the really bad choices I've made that have made my battle with weight even worse--maybe if someone had told me when I was 13 that just refusing to eat was a BAD thing, even if it did make me loose weight, I wouldn't have damaged my system so much. If people are talking about responsible ways to improve themselves, then it's good for them to have the support system. I wish I'd had it 17 years ago.

Damn I need to gain weight if going to a concert. Otherwise these 100% fit backstagers are going to push me aside!

I could probably do with sheading a few pounds if I'm gonna see Bon Jovi this year. I mean come on! I can understand holiday/vacation diets when you're gonna be half naked on the beach, but Bon Jovi diets? Wierd, but funny!

but this is a little like the skinny jeans system, doesnt matter how thin u r every woman has a skinny pair of jeans usually from when they were 16 that they want to get into..... so doesnt this BSWJBJ woman want to get into her skinny t shirt instead.

You are correct - but why is that a fact? Are all women fatter than all men. I don't think so - but men don't spend the huge amount of time discussing and agonizing over diets. I spend most of my working hours with men and I practically never hear the subject discussed. Or are women more self conscious than men because they have been told all their lives that have to fit an "ideal" - otherwise they are not attractive to men.

I read someting funny a while ago about women's confidence. A women will have come a long way when she can walk down the street with a beer belly in a tight t-shirt and a balding head and still think all the guys are checking her out. Guys, however do this all the time - even if sometimes it is just bravado.

Ther you go kathleen. But the truth is in our society that women who are heavy at all are looked at differently than men. Men can have a beer belly and still be considered distinguished, and crows feet and laugh lines on men are just it gives his face character, whereas women with a belly are fat, sloppy, don't care about themselves, irregardless of the reason that they are heavy. And we don't get cool words for getting older, we as women are just old.
It takes alot as a woman to feel comfortable in your own skin, and to get to a point where you don't judge yourself by what anyone else looks like. I've battled with my weight ever since my mid twenties when my athletic career ended and I had a couple of miscarriages. I have to be rigid about exercising and what I eat or the pounds come pouring on. Trust me it sucks out loud to have to pay attention everday to whatever you put in your mouth.
While i agree that going on a diet for a tour is not exactly a great reason, motovation is motovation and I see nothing wrong with it. And if these people get good support and advice from each other I can't see the harm in it.
I got to say Seb, I think you are being cruel here, weight may not be a "BIG ISSUE" in your life but it is for alot of people, why don't you give them a break and leave it alone.

I was never cruel about people with weight problems. Don't make this look like a situation it isn't. But people who are losing weight for a Bon Jovi tour to look great on tour for...well...for what? That's what makes this stupid, silly and pathetic.

Salaam Aleikum,
