I still believe they both care and respect each other, but the working relationship probably ran its course.

I'm missing nothing. There are countless interviews with JBJ being sullen. I've even read interviewers comment on how difficult he can be. So it's not just my own opinion. One lady actually went as far as to say he was "obnoxious". (She was a host of a UK rock/metal TV show called Noisy Mothers)

I'm not saying he can't be funny or charming at times. I've no idea what he's like in his personal life either. It's just an observation.

Richie forever! Eagerly waiting for his new material.

Here's a video I just uploaded with a poster of the man himself behind me:

Take your Sambora tinted specs off. He needs to sober up before anyone can take him seriously again.

Exactly. Richie at his peak was unbelievable and irreplaceable in the band. Just listen to his solo 1991 show on Spotify and compare it to recent times. The fact he has been replaceable, and fairly easily so, shows his decline sadly.

I used to like Richie's voice and way back his guitar playing was incredible. But his guitar playing is not what it was and neither is his voice either.

Another thing that did Richie in for me - that I cannot get passed - is the cowardly way he left the band (HIS friends). It was known that Richie didn't want to go on the next tour. So why did he sign a contract to do so and then just walk away with no notice?

There is a million page thread about that here so there is no need to go into they whys or the maybes. But just the simple fact that he did it the way he did, is terrible. I cannot respect him anymore.
I can never look at Richie the same way either... I can't get passed it.

Bon Jovi, to me was always Jon and Richie. I never preferred one over the other. Jon's rasp, passion and showmanship and Richie's incredible accompaniment (and showmanship). Richie was never about showing off... he always played what the song needed, nothing more nothing less and up until 2005 or so, it was always unique, creative and inspiring. Bon Jovi had the best frontman and the best lead guitarist... no comparison in my book. Together, their harmony - Jon's rasp and Richie's silky, bluesy tone fit together perfectly. They were always better together.

You can say what you want but you can't deny Sambora definitely wins the funny faces competition
