This is the second time I have read getting the rights to Bon Jovi songs is not easy. I remember way back when Drew Barrymore said she had to personally contact Jon to have Prayer in Charlie's Angels. I can't remember where I read, but I think it cost $1 million to license Prayer for a movie.
That may explain why you don't hear loads of Bon Jovi in TV shows or movies. Seems you need to give Jon a good reason to not only use the song, but also to avoid paying for it.

Didn't Tom Cruise meet with Jon personally too before filming Rock of Ages. There may well have been some negotiations there to get the rights to Wanted.
