Billy is definitely a Faith demo...

And that's what Jon referred to. He said something along the lines that they can still pull off these fun, tongue-in-cheeck lyrics, but that he wanted his music to focus on more serious issues because he wasn't in his 20's anymore.

Then he puts I'll Sleep, Woman In Love and Blame It On The Love on the record....

His words kinda make more sense with regards to These Days really, as those kind of lyrics were definitely out at that point...

Yeah kind of defeats the purpose, but then again, he always used the references to Bad Name and to NSG (can't sing about prom anymore) in these interviews to show that they had matured.
IIRC, the quote was marked as 1993, but if they were only one year off, we'd have it back in the Open All Night pool again
The vibe certainly would fit there too.

These are not about a joking turn of a phrase, though. In fact, Women in Love sounds like a dirty old man's account of women. There's a certain playfulness about the lyrical approach of these three (Bad Medicine, Bad Name, Why Aren't You Dead).

It's actually quite difficult to put together a cohesive "Open All Night" track listing as the tracks are so varied in style, but this works for me. Not a patch on what eventually became These Days tho, obviously!

1. Good Guys Don't Always Wear White
2. Letter To A Friend
3. Open All Night
4. The Fire Inside
5. Lonely At The Top
6. When She Comes
7. Prostitute
8. Only In My Dreams
9. Flesh And Bone
10. Wedding Day
11. Nobody's Hero
12. The End

Europe / Japan Bonus Tracks 13. I Just Want To Be Your Man
14. Bitter Wine (Demo Version)

Instead of albums, I just have my collection sorted by year. This is what I have between KTF and Crossroads.
(I only have the one song for 1993):

1. Gotta Have A Reason

2. Always - Demo

3. Someday I'll Be Saturday Night - Demo

4. Good Guys Don't Always Wear White

5. How Long Has This Been Going On

6. Letter To A Friend

7. Open All Night

8. The Fire Inside

9. Why Aren't You Dead

10. Nobody's Hero

11. Flesh And Bone

12. River Runs Dry

13. I Just Want To Be Your Man

14. Ordinary People

All those other demos like Wedding Day etc, I have listed as These Days Bonus tracks and they just follow the album.

With the exception of the Box Set, I prefer to sort by release date and not written and recorded... That would be too crazy. Putting songs like I Will Drive You Home with Burning Bridges wouldn't make sense.

Did the electric demo of Bitter Wine ever leak in better quality than the medium-quality mp3 the band's site (or American XS or whatever that service was) released back in the mid-2000's?

I though River Runs Dry was 96 which would place it after These Days
