I didn't realize he came up with the Runaway riff!

That's the first time I've heard of that too!! As far as I know, that's Roy Bittan credited on the album. Unless he played what Dave came up with....

Bounce as a double album would've been awesome, they had a lot of material, one disc with the harder ones and the other with ballads and slow songs

Just as with LOAP, I feel everonye involved is tweaking that Runaway story to their advantage as well. Once it was Jon writing it on the bus and only using a bit of help from that greek co-writer. Once it was that greek person (really don't have his name memorized anymore) actually having written it and Jon only tweaking a few words. Once it was Roy Bittan's keyboard intro, once an intro from a different jam session and once from David Bryan. God knows what's correct in this. In the end, the song worked and got Bon Jovi going. All that counts in my book

Quite amazing considering as he wasn’t in the band when Jon recorded it was he?

I have always thought the same thing (expect I think they should mix up the ballads and rock songs). That album was just so all over the place but so was the White Album and Mellon Collie and the Infinite Sadness.
There was a too much variety of influence for a single 12 song lp.
There were some unreleased gems like Postcards and We Can Dance but had they pushed it back another 6 months, wrote another 10 solid songs, that could have been a killer project.
I always wanted a Bon Jovi double disc album but I suppose it's too late in the game now.

JBJ & DB have known each other since they were kids. I suppose it's not impossible that DB came up with the riff, but the other writers (JBJ & GK) have never even alluded to him being involved.

As for a 2 LP Bounce - the album should have been worked on for another couple of months IMO. Whether the result would have been a double album or not, I am not sure, but there's so many cool ideas and stuff we know had been in the cards at the time, but the end result didn't quite live up to it all. Great individual pieces for sure, but as a cohesive album, not really.
