Just listened to Living With The Ghost after having had listened to the Blaze Of Glory album and realized that the lyrics and style of "Jon working off his inner demons" are quite similar. For some reason, I think that Living With The Ghost (with some tweaks lyrically) could've fit on BOG as well and I can imagine it having been a thunderstorm of a song since that album had Jon's voice in the right mood for these songs and musicians with an identlty played on it.

You're right, the lyric style is quite similar! Living With The Ghost has those vivid, cinematic and kinda romanticized metaphors the BOG album has as well, particularly in the verses and the bridge. The religious imagery in the bridge is also quite BOG-esque. I'd never imagined the concept of Living With The Ghost being on BOG before, but I totally agree that it would have been a thunderstorm of a song with Jon's voice back then and probably also just the overall fire that went into the BOG album.

I didn't mean putting that lullaby 2016 version on it, but I meant that Jon in 1990 would've taken the topic and those lyrics and could've lifted to be an epic number like many other tracks on BOG.

It obviously never made the album, but I can't help but wonder what a properly produced arrangement of The Fire Inside would have even sounded like. The intimate quality of the song (as intimate as you're gonna get with the anthemic quality it has) probably would not have benefited from a full blown band arrangement.

I've heard that the full band version was supposed to be on the boxset and that the version we heard was included in it's place by mistake.

Wow, really? The version we know is a top 30 Bon Jovi song for me, possibly higher. Man, I'd love to hear a different arrangement just for comparison's sake.

No, as a matter of fact the version we got is the one we were supposed to get. If I remember correctly, it was done that way to show how a song sounds when it is written, before going through the whole production process.
