Haven't seen that with videos that fans took at their concerts (at least not to that extent) before.
I wonder what's changed this tour?

For Jon, its obviously not nice having the internet slam his vocals but I suspect no one else was gonna tell him within the band/inner circle. At least this might make him admit he needs to get some vocal help.

But as I've seen someone else say, he needs to want to put the effort in, if it indeed is vocal therapy that's required.

How many times does Jon need to shout out to his multiple vocal coaches in public or admit how he's working on his voice the hardest he ever has in his career while holding tears for people to realize he already has already tried everything they suggest he should do? For informed fans who pay attention, he's said as much as he can without ruining his business of selling tickets.

Once the instrument is broken, there's no amount of fixing that can be done. He absolutely deserves all the shit he can get for not protecting his chords through his lifestyle, touring schedule and lack of proper vocal technique, but to suggest like he's some idiot who doesn't realize he needs help or doesn't bother trying is quite naïve.

Agreed, I don't really get what else people expect him to say other than the things he's already said a million times. He's made it very clear that he knows there's something wrong and that he's trying to work on it. And it's nothing new either, he's been saying it for several years now, hell, he even wrote a song lyric about it. What else is he supposed to say?

Jon knows what's wrong, but still, he's a fighter and he doesn't want to give up. When you see that Living On A Prayer video in Nashville you can see it clearly. He's going to fight that shit and try. And the band will always support him until the end, because that's how bands are.

I will tell you another matter related to this. Metallica, was finishing his leg in Brazil. In his last show, James Hetfield in the middle of a thank you speech, broke down crying. He was moved because when everything stopped and we went into quarantine, he lost his form, and he also realized that they were old, very aware of his situation, when the tour resumed, he had many insecurities, since he can't sing (and play so fast) like he did before.

James made it known to the rest of the band, his fears and demons, because he wasn't sure it was a good idea to go back on the road... however the band gave him their full support to go back on tour, face his demons whatever whatever the result. In the end it all worked out, because even though James can't do as well anymore, he has put in a very solid performance in all shows. All this finally explodes in that speech in Brazil, with the band hugging him and crying together with emotion.

I think that's what you should expect from your band, and not tell you to quit because you suck, and it's going to be a disaster.

I think what to quit but won't for 2 reasons.

One, Jon's been doing this longer than he hasn't and is afraid to let it all go. Even a few shows here and there keep him in the game. Jon can't quit before his idols.

Two, the machine is bigger than Jon. Employment, Band Mates, Money, Etc

re Metallica, they're the perfect example of how to age gracefully. They're by no means a talent powerhouse especially at their age [James's rhythm notwithstanding] but they seem to have rehearsed their parts to practical perfection and it shows on the pro shot videos [which they regularly put out free on YouTube. Even with the issues with high notes, James adapts super well. They have cemented their ultra-legacy despite some questionable records. Also, they never have been the ones to churn record after record every couple of years. A Metallica album was a big event, it was spaced. They still haven't released or started recording a new album since the last [6 years ago]. They keep the fans & haters involved and wanting more. I'm not a huge fan but respect where its warranted.

I put it here so that we don't have to discuss it in the Alec-tribute-threads.
One thing that just came to mind after I once again read the "infamous" Alec interviews from 1994
(this: https://drycounty.com/jovitalk/bon-j...st1209618.html

and this: https://drycounty.com/jovitalk/bon-j...1209619.html):

When he didn't play on the albums before, why did he make that statement that he won't be playing on what was to become These Days?
Did he want to stop living a lie and get the record straight on that topic?
Did he want to provoke getting fired?
Or did Hugh just play on selected tracks and Alec had more input in the studio than we all thought he had?

The way we all believed for years how the studio work was done, his statement doesn't really makes sense.

At that point, I think that that the situation had been boiling in both ways. Alec wanted out and Jon wanted him out, but probably none of them had addressed it properly at that point. So yeah, it may have been a bit of provocation involved as well.
