It's tough to say a song like Prayer and Bad Name are timeless because they influenced or were influenced by the 80's SO hugely. The synth sounds, the way the snare is, the production. As songs, Prayer feels much more timeless in its arrangement, I don't know I could say the same for Bad Name.

Bon Jovi's 80's songs have more of that timeless sound than many of their peers did. But that also has a lot to do with the songs, we're used to them so we take them for granted, but take 8 of the 10 songs from Slippery, and with updated production and arrangement they could be released today by either a pop or a rock band.

BTW has anybody been watching Ms. Marvel on Disney+? I haven't been keeping with the whole marvel superhero thing much since End game but The show takes place in Jersey and the supposedly they mention Bon Jovi a lot and had a Pakistani tribute band called Brown Jovi in it. A friend sent me an action scene in which Livin on a Prayer was playing so I'm gonna get around to watching it eventually just out of curiosity ....

Yes I'm watching it. There have been several Bon Jovi references in two episodes so far, including referring to Jon as Captain Kidd, which I see as quite a deep reference since he hasn't been called that since the 80s, and it's not really a very widley known nickname unless you are a fan, so obviously someone on the writing team is into the band!

Yeah, I watched last night. The Captain Kidd was fantastic! They call Jon as "the prince of New Jersey" too. Very cool references. And Livin' on a prayer scene is good too.

I read an interview where the producer or showrunner says they were concerned if they could get the rights to Bon Jovi songs. She wrote to Jon saying how important the band was for her when she was younger and how the band connects with immigrants in the U.S.

This is the second time I have read getting the rights to Bon Jovi songs is not easy. I remember way back when Drew Barrymore said she had to personally contact Jon to have Prayer in Charlie's Angels. I can't remember where I read, but I think it cost $1 million to license Prayer for a movie.

That may explain why you don't hear loads of Bon Jovi in TV shows or movies. Seems you need to give Jon a good reason to not only use the song, but also to avoid paying for it.

Didn't Tom Cruise meet with Jon personally too before filming Rock of Ages. There may well have been some negotiations there to get the rights to Wanted.

Have always loved it’s just me…and the 2nd half of the album.
The first half of the album is a bit nothing for me but from it’s just me it kicks in.
I like I talk to Jesus as well.

Since It's just me is on the topic I have always found this performance particularly magical and go back to it frequently...

They have a reference on Spider-Man Homecoming as well.

This week I was watching Stranger Things second season again and completely forgot that they play Runaway. It's like the episode's theme was the song.
