Mikey is a great backing singer, but not a great lead singer - just see the Dave era songs that he has performed live when in VH and in Sammy's band...

I haven't seen too much love for the song here but man oh man, REAL LIFE is such a good pop song. I've been running old songs through a digital app that removes the drums, bass and strings etc and I'm picking up on a lot of subtle production stuff I missed. The strings in the verse that pan left and right back to back mirror the "Yeah" "Yeah" "Yeah" "Yeah" Beatles-y backing vocals in the bridge, blew me away.

And that bridge, so damn good. The box set version stripped it of all it's pop shmaltz and made it so ordinary sounding.

One of the main songs that got me into the band. I watched EdTV and was blown away by the song playing over the credits.

Completely agree with everything. I love that song, and in particular the soundtrack version. I never really liked the boxset version, the vocal takes felt less inspired.

I also liked the acoustic performance of the Bounce Tribute Band.

When Olli sings "This is real pain" he imprints authentic claw in the word "Pain". That's very cool.

There's quite a few versions of the song. Some of which were digitally altered to change the key it's in.

The instrumental version has a gorgeous edit that doesn't fade out and just focuses on the strings at the end. If it's on Youtube I'll post the link in a bit.

Yeah, Real Life is a brilliant song.
I always remember very early on being a fan of the band and that video was still popping up a few times on the music channels and I absolutely loved it.

One of those songs where it's a shame they never gave it a shot live.

Hey, never heard about this instrumental version. Where I can find it, Captain?

It was one of the first Bon Jovi song that I dowloaded, in the time that mp3 becomes famous. Good times. Always loved that song!

So Jon's son Jake is engaged to Millie Bobby Brown. Jon doesn't think age matters, but I don't agree. What even seems more of a problem to me is the short time they have been dating. I don't except it to last even if they do make it down the aisle.
