I agree with what most have posted here. Things change. It's part of life. If two songs matter so much to you, don't buy the new CD.

I'm glad to get a new CD instead of another 4 or 5 year hiatus. Not only do we have this CD, but a DVD and the box set is coming out next year. Jon and Richie have time to pursue their football team, acting, and possible solo projects. Dave has time to focus on his musicals and Tico can play golf until he's ready to take on Tiger Woods. But we're still getting new products.

I don't find a whole lot to bitch about in that scenario.

well in that gap the quality dipped remarkaby... maybe during the next gap it will rise again, so i say let's go for a 5 year break instead and then get a more mature album from more mature people.

Not exactly rock n roll is it.

I wouldn't be surprised if that DVD doesn't materialise also since 3 plans have already fallen through (if not 4 - i'm sure i remember an email once saying that the giants 2001 show was being released by the fanclub).

Yeah, I think the band matured a hell of a lot with Keep The Faith and These Days, as they were quality albums that couldn't be given the 'hair-metal' brand. (Hair-metal was great btw, but I'm just taking a critic's point of view for a moment.) I don't think Crush and Bounce could be called maturing albums, just a change of direction and not necessarily a good one at that.
