It all depends so much on the period in life when an album is written. When BJ wrote slippery it was time for high notes ans screams and sensitive ballads. When they would do the same nowadays, we wouldn`t even listen to it.( apart from some idiots like me of course)
These days people ask so much more from an artist, and musicstyles have changed so much during the last decade, I doubt they can ever ge the same succes again.
But he, do the Stones make big classics the last periods?
Over here we have this band Goldeb Earring. Yestraday there was an article about them in the newspaer, and one of the conclusions about them was: they were still great performers but it kept on harder and harder to make new hits. I guess that`s for Bon Jovi too.

maybe they dont need to make an effort with albums anymore cos theyve made it, theyre big, they have a secure contract and fanclub. new bands have to make really good albums cos they havent "made it" yet, so its more competitive for them. lately ive been listening to whole albums by newer bands but only the standout tracks from bon jovi albums.

That's the thing that I think will, in the end, have the most impact/influence...the record company. Jon is coming across more and more as a man who is very disgruntled with things as they are presently with the music business. Perhaps if Universal sort of ignore BJ for long enough [they've been doing a reasonable job of it thus far], they will do a 'TD', and write/record and release another great album. Time will tell.

yeah itd be great if they could do another great album like TD - i know some ppl find it sadder/depressinger (is there such a word?) than crush/bounce/TLFR but it was still a great album. jon was saying in "last man standing" how he hates selling out and the music companies and all that, so maybe sooner or later he'll stop caring altogether what the record company thinks and he'll start writing more good songs. theyre talented musicians so they should use their potential to make more good albums.
