Ermmm..well, you might. Hehehe..I didn't actually sign up as I don't like to give out my personal info. Of course you can create a junk email address as I have done for these sort of things. I can't be bothered to sit and fill that stuff out though.

They don't actually. I don't know the exact figures but I highly doubt that Americans use the internet the most (percent of population)
so who would?

I think percentagwise it must definitely be the US. Couldn't imagine any other country using the internet more.
At least two years ago it was finland. Not sure about the figures nowadays. All I know that in finland at least in every city every house is networked and connected to internet somehow. Unless the person living in has chosen not to.

REALLY?? I did know that some of the scandinavian countries are rather advanced (in terms of women at the workplace, education, etc.), but I didn't know that. So, if you buy a new house (newly built), it is already wired (like in the US). How about the older houses (more than 10 years), did they all get wired? Just curious.

Why not? Oh sorry...that's right, the US is the biggest and best at everything...sorry, forgot that.

A quick poke around on the net turned up some interesting stats...

The US has approx 59.1% of it's population online. Norway however has 59.2%....Holland has 60.83%, Denmark 62%, Sweden 67.81% and the big guns are Iceland on about 69.8%.

Oh, and us here in lil ol outback UK all the way down at *only* 57.24%....but that's probably because we haven't got electricity in our houses like you rich Americans. (Sarcasm by the way)

This is surely a joke right? "women at the workplace"???? Do you really think that the US is the *most* advanced country in the world???

hmmmm, cause I live in the US that means I think the US is the biggest and best at everything??? You are reading things into my statments that you want to read, Soho, you have no idea what I think/believe and I hate it if people make assumptions like this. Do not ever put me in the "rah-rah USA rah rah" bucket ever again. I do not belong there.

I know quite a few people in Germany that are not hooked up with the internet, yet I don't know anyone in the US who isn't. Quite unscientific, I know, but that is my LIMITED analysis. Hence, it was a surprise to me. No more, no less. An innocent surprise!

Why would that be a joke? Why would you conclude I think the US is the most advanced country in the world when I already stated other countries are MORE advanced? In "rather advanced" I obviously mean advanced to what I am used to - which, btw, would be the US. Hence, I DO NOT think the US is the "most advanced country in the world" - get it?

Get your emotions under control Soho and don't read into my posts more than there actually is.

Peace.

My emotions are firmly under control thanks. If you read your post again, you may see that it could be interpreted as being in the, how you so wonderfully put it...rah rah USA rah rah...bucket!!

Anyway, glad your not in the bucket. We in the UK often suffer from bad first impressions too...which is most definatly our fault for not only trying to take over the world a couple of hundred years ago, but of trying too long to hold onto what little we had! Not since the 50's has British been best, (it probably only ever was because we were the only buggers making stuff) so I'd react the same as you if someone put me in the same bracket!

Mike

I hear ya, see I am "blessed" with a double whammy: I really am German (as in citizenship), but choose to live in the US ..... now, you might question my sanity, lol.
