I'm from The Netherlands and while I truly don't know about the flagrules, I think this reporter is taking things to extremes.

Quite simply, all BJ are very proud of their country and are truly patriots. They donated a lot of their free time for charities and making people feel good. Just take a look a last October, when BJ were all over the place to help raise awareness for the 9/11 relieve funds. Take one look at all their charity gigs at Red Bank's Count Basie Theatre. No, these men have their hearts in the right places. They don't need no stupid reporter bashing them!

I mean c'mon, Richie was wearing the flag in a place where the most dramatic thing in all USA history took place! If that's not an appropriate place to show your patriotism, what is?
Let's all hope that Richie won't be sued by somebody who takes this reporter serious. In the week where the tragic events of last year's attacks are remembered, a lot of people are emotionally very involved with the people in the NYC area and Washington area. Richie used the flag as a sign of hope and trust. Maybe the reporter didn't notice this small fact. !

I hope somebody will get the e-mail adress of this sharp and very observatory reporter so we all can e-mail him and just tell him to get a life. On second thought, this guy would probably go sue Richie then straight away (excuse me Judge, but Mr. Sambora truly disgraced the flag bla bla bla)...The reporter should save his privilige of writing published articles for truly and deeply moving issues. But if he wants to talk about 'controversial' music issues, he should write about stuff like Eminem's (who's clearly afraid of the hand puppet Triumph and the peace-loving Moby) stupidities at the VMA two weeks ago! That's so much more important, with Eminem being a large role model who actually promotes violence, instead of ripping on a role model who's only mishap is showing his love for his country!

Seriously, if people make an issue out of someone's pride to be an American, then those people all have learned nothing over the last year!

Chill out and light a candle for the victims of 9/11 instead of this stupid stuff, mr. Reporter!

I don't want to be offensive... and I'm not american so probably I never would understand.
But in my opinion it is a piece of textile!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Nothing more nothing less.
I know it is used as a symbol, but it feels to me a bit to much to treat it as a saint.

Hi,

I understand the protocal, having been brought up in the military. I actually watched the half time show via the military channel.

I didnt feel offended at all. Richie was not wearing the flag, it was drapped across his hip. I have seen this done dozens of times by different stars etc. He can hardly hold the flag when playing a guitar.

I think this report was just an excuse for another reporter to diss Jovi, this is proved by the comments regarding Heather being married to him.

Dawn

I am thinking Alan is referring to the person who wrote the article.

Emmm....all of this over a piece of material? okkkk
And the person who actually wrote this obviuosly does not like Richie.

Guitar wallah Richie Sambora, the one who's married to Heather Locklear -- she must see something in him, or at least in his wallet --

Oh an another thing Richie Sambora is not an "employee" of Jon Bon Jovi!!

I think I hould be telling this to the person who wrote the article! Lemme at em

talk about close minded journalistic unitegrity. This report is a piece of shit as the only theme evident in it is that it is out to get Richie. I've seen freaking strippers dancing in the US flag bikinis for God's sake.

I swear this country is so obsessed with symbols and material things that they've lost sight of whats important.

Ive been watching the ground zero ceremonies and other ones from all over the world, even officials from these countries are actually wearing the flag in the form of scarves ,one lady even made a top out of the flag.
Im sure the writer of this post wouldnt accuse them of not respecting the flag!!!!!

Becky I dont think Alan ment you, he ment the person who wrote the post, its clear you didnt write it.

This article is obviously written by another Bon Jovi critic, thinking - "It's about time a Bon Jovi member did something bad so that I can carry on the true fasion of Bon Jovi critics"
