First, I find no offense in what Richie did. He wasn't really wearing it, so I see no harm done. It's amazing how a Cracker Jack reporter can turn an honest gesture of patriotism into blasphemy. So much for objective reporting...

More importantly, to all those who referred to the American flag as just a piece of cloth, I respectfully disagree. It represents our country and therefore should be respected by Americans at least. Yes, that's symbolism... So what? When this country was just beginning, it was a symbol of new-found independence. Now American citizens are once again turning to it for a sense of unity. It's been a source of inspiration to so many over the years, therefore we respect it. Not for what it is, but for what it means. For all those who fought for it. For all those who tried to make this country great. Call it sentimental or whatever you want, but that's the way we do things, and personally, I wouldn't have it any other way.

It's stupid! Richie was doing this as a tribute. Does theis pee brain think that he could play guitar and wave the flag over his head simultaniously?

P.S. Hey Rey. Sorry I haven't mailed you in a while. I've been grounded, had personal problems, then my PC tore up. Could you give me your e-mail adress so we could maybe start writing again together?

I do agree that it's more that just a piece of cloth, but some treat it as though it is a living being. A co-worker of mine, who was in the military, told me that his drill sgt told him that the flag is "His new God". I don't the flag should be "worshiped". The flag is a symbol. Respect it yes, but worship it, treat it as a living being...no.

Btw, my father was killed in action during the Vietnam war. He gave his life for this country. So I respect the flag very much. It is just that some people take it to the extreme. "you can only wash this way...fold it this way...etc" I mean by all means...don't use it to wipe your butt...make rags out of it, wear it as tube top. But draping it over your shoulders like a cape...or the way Richie wore it, is no big deal.

This if for KRB102 or whatever your name is.
Please crawn into a cave and leave the rest of us be.
I am unbelievably proud to be American... even with all the countries faults and all the things we may not agree on that our government does, I wouldn't live anywhere else.
If YOU don't like America, if YOU have an inferiority complex, if YOU have agression towards America, that's fine but don't spread your nastiness on this site. While I realize this is not an American based site and there are many international Bon Jovi fans here, please realize that with non-American like YOU, it's no wonder some American don't choose to travel more than 100 miles outside their hometown. You are not doing the world any favors by being the tourism minister my anti-American friend.
Not to defend the truly dumb Americans, but do you have any concept just how ****in' HUGE America is? If you live in Germany and you travel to Italy... you find yourself in a totall different country, with a totally different history, culture, language... EVERYTHING.
In America, if you start out in LA and you travel to San Franciso... you've already travelled further than the distance between Italy and Germany... and you're STILL in California which is only a few hundred years old.
So if YOU have a problem with AMERICA, pleaes don't come here. We don't want you and we surely don't miss you. And if you see any Americans wherever it is in Europe that you're from... stay clear of them lest you give Europe a bad name.
Truthfully, you might not like Americans... but we don't like your attitude. So people living in glass houses should not throw stones... and if your only outlet for your xenophobic and jingoistic rage is on this website, you need some serious professional counseling. Put that in your pipe and smoke it.

Dear Derek,

Why post on here when you are angry at me regarding a different post? Why not post on http://www.bonjovicentral.com/jovita...pic.php?t=1643 where I posted the message that humiliated you?

I know how big America is; it is smaller than Canada, which is where I live. I dont have an inferiority complex, quite the opposite actually.

Actually, you replied obnoxiously to THIS post - check out the 2nd, 3rd and 5th replies - they're all from YOU.
Canada - we're so sorry you've been subjected to his kind of resident.
Our friends up north deserve better and so does this board.
And yes... it WOULD seem you don't have an inferiority complex because you ARE way too impresssed with yourself... but that usually indicates you're lacking in other departments....

Why wait all this time to post a reply to my opinions on this topic?

Hilarious. In a previous post, you stated that you hailed from Europe. Getting your continents mixed up again?

Let me think..... Could it be possible that I was born somewhere other than Canada? .........

'You'll hear a babble of more than 100 languages spoken on Toronto's streets, and it's estimated that 40% of the population was born overseas - no wonder UNESCO voted it the world's most diverse city' -- Lonely Planet

Any comment littlebonjovi girl?
