Richie wore Union Jack trousers at Wembley last week, and they were really cool. I think anyone who wears a flag/piece of clothing with a flag on it is making a statement, not a bad one a positive one.

Agreed.

But draping it over your shoulders like a cape...or the way Richie wore it, is no big deal.
My father was in the Vietnam War as well. Fortunately, he made it out. I'm sorry for your loss.

I can understand some of the rules, though. Although they may seem extreme at times, they have a reasonable basis. For example, disposing of the flag a certain way makes sense to me. Who wants to see the representation of their country laying in the trash? It's almost like a piece of the country, so I'd never want to see it thrown away. The same for not allowing it to be laid on the ground. I don't want to see a flag laying in the middle of the street. As for folding, well that's a bit extreme. But I do think it should always be folded rather than crumpled up in a ball. However, I do see what you're saying, and I appreciate your opinion.

It should only be a representation of your country (to you) if you want it to be. There shouldn't be a law statig that a piece of material with a certain design represents your country, and you must treat it with respect. All around the world we keep getting in your face messages from america, saying that it is the land of the free. With laws like this is doesn't seem like it to me.

Actually, if the contract is still the way it was years ago, Richie technically IS Jon's employee. Jon was the only one signed to a contract with the record company. Richie and the other band members were under contract with JON. The record company wanted a solo artist and the compromise was naming the band Bon Jovi after Jon's last name. It also makes sense from a business perspective for the record company because they have fewere people to deal with, fewer legal entanglements. This has been addressed publically and officially and the last I heard from an official source (BWJBJ) Jon was still the only one holding Bon Jovi's contract. So, I can't really get too ticked off about that part of the article. Technically he's correct. Of course, the writer still comes across as a pompous jerk.

Sorry if I'm the latest limey to critisise the article, but this is what I was thinking when reading it. Richie is obviously wearing the flag out of pride, and if something like that happened in England, then nobody would be offended. Sorry Americans but I have to agree with krb102.

Do you think I care that someone who thinks a person is an idiot because he expresses his opinion, thinks I am an idiot? I think not. What I said wasn't supposed to be insulting, I would never want to do that, it is merely an opinion. If I wanted to insult you I could say that you are a typical American, and leave you to ponder over where the insult is. But I don't want to insult you so I wont say that.
