Never one to mess with success, Bon Jovi's new album "Bounce" continues along the path paved by "Crush."

"Crush" introduced Bon Jovi to a new generation and re-ignited interest among older fans who loved the band's catchy rock songs and power ballads of the '80s. "It's My Life" became Bon Jovi's biggest hit to date.

"Everyday," the first single from "Bounce," takes the cocky energy of "It's My Life," tempers it with sobering reminders of Sept. 11, and then lunges forward with a chorus of "I'm gonna live my life, everyday."

Back and forth, back and forth. Richie Sambora spits out some guitar licks for the anthemic "Undivided" and then Jon Bon Jovi takes a cue from Elton John's "Levon," conjuring the story of "Hey, Joey."

This is a band that knows its strengths: big, chunky melodies, Every Man tales told in Every Man language, love songs worthy of prom night, and a fun-loving spirit that never quits.

Jon Bon Jovi shows a sense of humor on "Misunderstood," one man's regrets standing in for "every guy who has been in the doghouse."

"Should've drove all night, would've run all the lights . . ." he laments in "Misunderstood," but the listener knows that she'll take him back.

Jon Bon Jovi trades his rock 'n' roll growl for a more tender voice in "Open All Night," a love song inspired by his work on "Ally McBeal." If Jon wants to further emulate Elton John, this song is evidence he might have a ballad-filled Broadway career ahead of him.

Any one of the 12 tracks could be the next hit single for the indefatigable Bon Jovi.
