I've always taken this a little extra personally, because I was Katherine's age when my mother would give me letters to take half a block to the corner and mail. I watched enviously as each of my older sisters were awarded that honor, then finally it was my turn! No doubt I was watched the entire time, but I was too busy enjoying how grown up and responsible it made me feel. That little piece of my childhood is tainted now.
