Here is a nice little less known fact about this song.

The guys actually recorded the song during Sound Check first and that was supposed to be the final recording. It wasn't supposed to be played live initially....

The story is.... Roy Bittan from the E-Street Band ask Jon if he would contribute a song to the Very Special Christmas Album... Jon agreed and received a dozen of Christmas type songs to sift through. Back Door was their first listen and final choice.

Jon rearranged the song to make it a "Bon Jovi" type song and they nailed the first take. During the Nassau show they decided to play it live and Jon thought it came out even better so they threw out the Sound Check version and kept the live one instead (with the audience)...

The End!!!!

It sounds horrible. Jon's voice sounds like his throat is bleeding during the whole damn thing. I can't listen to it without feeling pain. I'm glad they removed it from later editions of A Very Special Christmas and replaced it with I Wish Every Day Could Be Like Christmas.

I feel the opposite... it pours with passion, emotion, and feeling...

I can't listen to recordings from much of the Slippery tour. To me, they sound WAY worse than anything in the last few years when everyone is saying Jon sounds so bad. He may be singing with passion, but he's also destroying his own instrument by abusing it and you can hear it.
