I used to post at both Backstage and here all the time, but found I couldn't keep up with all the new posts at Backstage and now pretty much stick to just reading and posting on this board as there are generally less posts. Even so, now that I'm working and can't go online during the day the posts add up. Right now I've got 813 new posts to read here at Dry County!

I've never gotten this "this board is better than another board" attitude between Backstage and Dry County, and even bonjovi.com. We're all Bon Jovi fans, afterall. And like Becky just said, there are idiots all over the world, the internet included, and they don't just congregate at one particular message board.

And did Backstage really include "Drycounty.com" in the ban explanation?!! That just seems so, well, pathetic, like they've joined in on this board rivalry thing which really only exists in the minds of a few people.

Yeah, they did. I was surprised myself. Although I am allowed back now.

Well, that's good. I still think it's silly of them to actually use "Drycounty.com" in the explanation, but I guess they know what they're doing.

I don't think it is right of them to specifically say drycounty.com in their reasoning for someone being banned. I thought about that earlier and realized it was kinda crappy of them to do. Peter has worked very hard and has put a lot of time and effort and his own money into this website. I don't think it's right to blatantly point fingers at his site. If they want to say "another message board", but not specify "www.drycounty.com".

Sorry...had to vent a little there.

You are right, but I guess DC is big competition for them as far as BJ messageboards go. Guess that they are envious.

I don't think it's a matter of envy. Really, what do they have to be envious about? They have over 10,000 users. It is a fact that people from this message board go to that one JUST to attempt to cause trouble. That's documented on THIS board. So, where does envy come in? They've got more users, are actually making money off their users--it introduces them to the fan club and non fc members can buy merchandise. The amount of people who post on this board is not distracting from their profits. But some users here DO intentionally harrass users there. Should they name names? Probably not. But they're well within their rights to do so. I don't think the people who run Backstage are envious or scared or threatened. They're aware of the game of DC users trying to cause trouble on Backstage and aren't going to put up with it. That's a way to protect their users.

If the tables were turned, it would be within Peter's discretion to ban people for coming here specifically to harrass users. Every forum I've been a part of, BJ or not, bans people who harrass.

Becky

Maybe they just take themselves a bit too seriously over there.

I've been banned from Backstage too.

I had an extra ticket for a concert and was trying to get rid of it-- for less than I payed for it mind you. Next time I went to post I got a lengthy description about how selling was expressely prohibited on the site.

I can't argue their logic, but it was an honest mistake. Why not simply delete the post and PM with a warning about selling? I've been a member there since the beginning of time and posted semi-regularly and wanted to get my extra ticket to a fan instead of using ebay... I was repayed kindly with a "banned for life." They wouldn't unlock the account after I contacted the moderators and explained that my error was completely innocent. I think it's possible someone just didn't like me(hard to imagine, I know) for occasionally pointing out that counting Jon's chest hairs was tiresome at best.

I think at times they wield their "banning" power a little too swiftly. While I understand they want a somewhat controlled environment over there, their whittling down of users often leads to unending threads about the arc of jon's butt or the curl of David Bryan's lockes.

In fairness to them, however, there are users who serve only to be a troll(or at least hope to be). It can't be easy weeding them out.
