Default Banners

Why on earth do people take banners to Bon jovi concerts? i'm watching Borgata dvd at the moment and there are silly people holding banners saying things like i love you jon but not realy taking in the concert. it seems just a waste to me .when i go to a BJ gig the only thing thats in my hand is a beer bottle not a banner . Is it just me or do you think banners are just stupid?

Aloha !

I don't get it either, unless it's a request for a song, because sometimes they work. But saying that you love Jon or any other band member is just plain silly. I know this girl who had a banner saying "Dave, this one is for you".

Is it me or does anyone else thinks that it's just one of the most stupid banners ever made? And do you think Dave understood what it meant? Me and my friends didn't untill it was explained to us.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Banners are annoying. And people who hold them up constantly ought to be thrown out for blocking the view of the view of the people behind them. I'll admit I've held up a banner to request a song, but I did it between songs only once because Jon nodded to acknowledge it and then I put it down. If they see it and they choose to play the song, great. If not, give it up.

And what is with people holding up and waving around the merchandise they just bought?

Hey, I freely admit that I tried to coerce Jon into playing Mystery Train. LOL But he got the message, so I took it down.

I think the value of signs varies by the artist too, but there's no point in making a sign and holding it up all night at a Jovi show.

"This one's for you"... well, I assume she mean the sign. LOL It's an old beer slogan, so maybe she was drinking a beer for Dave?

It's a form of expression or a shot at attention depending on the message. I don't think they are stupid. For alot of people a show is their chance to communicate with the band, to let them know how they feel. i'm not saying it's rational or logical but i've seen some pretty creative ones over the years and it is fun, especially if it catches Jon's eye and he acknowledges it. i agree with Becky that you should put them down during songs if you are blocking the view. Jon has been known to play a song request now and then and he talks about reading banners and forgetting what he's supposed to be doing. The band likes them so I guess we'll be seeing them forever.

I think that it is done to get the band attention PERIOD .... then with this said it can be silly or very smart ....the banners to say to the guy : I love you or Jon you have a great package or I wanna Bounce on you () are annoying (and I am always the lucky one to have one banner person in front of me )... the song request works very often ....Tayla and Laura in Oostend got their I'd Die For You and our dutch friends got their I Believe and the girl next to me got her Fever at the Kiel show too

I am not anti banner but I kinda think it's boring and annoying when it's UP during the whole show
