This is a good poll and I've voted for Bed Of Roses. I used to think it was a boring song compared to the others on Crossroad, until I started to listen carefully to the lyrics. "Sitting here wasted and wounded on this old piano, Trying hard to capture the moment, this morning I don't know. There's a bottle of vodka still lodged in my hand, Some blonde gave me nightmares. I think that she's still in my head, As I dream about movies they won't make of me when I'm dead." That's a great opening to the song, and with the piano it sounds great. Richie's solo is very good also.

I struggle to see why Always became Bon Jovi's most commercial hit. It's not a bad song but I find it rather dull, and maybe girls can relate to it more than guys can. Maybe it also has something to do with me never having anyone to always be there for, because I've never really been in love, and definately have not been in the situation of the guy in that song. I feel exactly the same way about I'll Be There For You to, because it's very similar to Always, and maybe they wrote it with I'll Be There For You In Mind. However, I think Bed Of Roses is a song that created by itself from scratch, if you see what I mean.

I voted for Bed of Roses. Every time I hear it, I get this beautiful imagery in my mind. It really carries me away. I also like the last line "...it's you that I'd die to defend". Plus the fact that it's a power ballad written in a waltz tempo makes it original. Tell me how many rock songs there are like that! And the story behind the song is great. Jon had to force himself to write the song and it ended up being a hit! Is that wild or what?

Actually it's in 6/8, not 3/4 (waltz). And a lot of songs use 6/8, though What It Takes isn't one of them... But Aerosmith's got others, Crazy and Crying come to mind...

i justify it in that if you look at the brackets (and i remember the post) i was talking honestly aobut what the top songs of the 90s have been for me

and i absolutely hate it's my life (but that's 2000 )

but for 90s i stand by what i said - i don't love always (see my asterix and point afterwards) but it was probably their biggest single in the 90s - in fact WAS the biggest single
