Default Bells Of Freedom is a forgotten gem

I know it's message is nothing new when it comes to BJ, but I've always liked the melody to it.

Compare to WWBTF or Lost Highway, it's far superior. Any fans ?

Oh yeah, I absolutely love it. I would rank it among my favourite songs. It's really great live too. I wish they would play it more regularly.

Yeah, its got an epic feel to it that songs like WWBTF lack. I guess it proves that songs about hope and standing for what you believe aren't the problem, its the need for a good melody and lyrics.

Yeah I'd agree, the bell intro in unnecessary.

Great song..One of my favourites from recent years and the version with the alternative lyrics is not so bad either. Definately one of the best songs from HAND.

I remember having really low expectations for the song because of the pretty cheesy title, but yeah, it is pretty good. I'd probably rate it middle of the road for the HAND album and much better than the majority of the material they have released since.

Great tune! One of the highlights from HAND and one of the best ballads from post 2000 era for me.
Was pleased to see it make a come back into the setlists last year being played acoustic out only the Circle and was lucky enough to catch it in Munich, for me it came across better live in an acoustic format!
Then Jon hurts his leg and goes 2 shows without going out on the circle and then forgets all about Bells of Freedom once again!

I love it. Easily one of my favourite post-2000 songs.
