My favourite by quite some way was Dan Reed Network on the 2nd leg of the NJ tour at Wembley Arena.

Worst was Rockhead - Bob Rock's band at Wembley Arena again on KTF tour, god they were awful, mind you so was Joan Osborne.

As for Live, hugely talented and under-rated band. I think they lost before they even walked on stage at Hyde Park as they were on in the middle of a very hot sunny afternoon and I don't think the crowd had any interest in anything other than Jovi. Also from what I gather, if you weren't down the front, then the view was practically non-existent in the GA area as well so let's face it, no matter how good a band are, if you can't hear them very well and you can't see them, they don't stand much of a chance (unless they're the band you're there to see!)

I saw Live at Brixton a few years ago on The Distance to Here tour and they were amazing, one of the best bands I've ever seen and I wasn't much of a fan at the time, only had Throwing Copper but they really were fantastic, give them another go

Unfortunately most support bands they had here in Germany were crap but there are 2 or 3 I liked, like Southside Johnny & The Asbury Jukes (of course, I even went to 3 of their concerts at headliners after that), Gotthard and Live also weren't bad. My first concert wasn't until 1996 though, I know there were good bands earlier as support.

LIVE wasn't crap but it's ok if you don't like them ... I think it's VERY TOUGH to be the opening act of a band like BON JOVI (I mean by this that Bon Jovi venues are full of real exclusive Bon Jovi fans more than usual gig because you have to REALLY be a fan to do a a jovi show more than a U2 show where you can decide to go JUST because it's U2 ..I hope you see what I mean )so for the bon jovi gig opener it's tough as the public is just here for BON JOVI .. so I am always giving the opening acts some excuse if they are not doing perfect...

I hope this post makes sense
Live was crap indeed. The lead guitar player's guitar was out of tune each time they got on, he even "tuned" his guitar while being on stage at Hyde Park, the "guitar solo's" were crap and Ed thanked Bon Jovi so many times for being there that it actually got annoying. There was no feeling of seeing a band but just a few individuals trying to play the same song.

Salaam Aleikum,
Sebastiaan

Only seen live and they were average at best. Me and the boys spent more time taking the piss out the lead guitarists mohican and onstage antics. :P

OK then ... i didn't thought them that bad ... but now listening to Thierry and you Seb i don't know ... maybe they were awful and I am stupid LOL

another side note ... hubby (not me ) was at the stones concert with Jovi opening in 1995 and he told me (I was not there because pregnant)that they have been booed big time .. not because they were bad but because they were NOT the Stones this is what i meant about my lil speech above not that they played great but that i'ts terribly tough to play for ppl who are crazy about the main band period ...(ok my part about U2 didn't make sense ..but I think that at a u2 show or even stones show you have occasional listeners that are not that numerious for a bon jovi show in 2003- they weren't in the charts or anything to go there you had to want to see BON JOVI )

ok I am not even able to make sense to myself so i wouldn't be surprised if you don't get what I meant

ps techinically I AM REALLY BAD at judging a band doing wrong or what ? unless the singer is singing BAD and out of tune i don't feel it ...but i can see if a band is well connected or not with the crowd and Live did a quite good job )

so far the BEST opening act ever (not for jovi but for MB20 ) was maroon 5 ... I have never heard about them before (septembre 2003) and they hooked me instantly eventhough I didn't care at all about them at first ...

I understand what you're trying to say M. It does happen to me. When I go to a BJ show if the opening band doesn't sound good or find them quite annoying or they have zero connection with the crowd then I don't like them. That's probably what I felt with Live. I didn't like them that much. And, I had a totally different reaction with the Goo, for the example, when I saw them for the first time.
