Default best songs for conversion

I was hanging out with someone who i recently became good friends with. Our taste in music is quite similar (beatles, stones, queen etc.) She was very suprised that my favourite group was bon jovi. She insisted that they were really not much better than hair bands such as whitesnake, poison, and ratt. I insisted that they were much better than that and had really moved on from that type of music. So I played the following song to try and win her over:
Love for sale
Homebound train
A litlle bit of soul
Diamond Ring
Something to believe in
August 7 4:15
Undivided (which ofcourse came with an introduction as to what it was about)

I cant say that she became a bon jovi fan, but was certainly suprised and did admit that they were better than she had originally thought. My next move ofcourse is to take her to a gig. I was just wondering if anyone has faced a similar situation and what songs you played to the 'non believers'.

Now now, if your friend looks down on 'hairbands' then she's hopeless.

These are the last song i would have played personally, but maybe thats just me. Anyhow, my friend totally hated Bon Jovi and defined prayers as "a bunch of guys screaming" and "crap". It took 3 months but one song cracked him and that was it - It's My Life. I know its that old cliche of IML being an average song the people seem to love but its one of the best tools Jovi have to pull people in.

After IML, I lent him HAND and Crush so he got into the modern stuff. He even liked the TLFR version of IML, and he started listening to TLFR. I then told him that TLFR isn't the original songs and if he liked them he should listen to SWW and NJ. He then got into Bad medicine and all the eighties stuff (even prayer) and went to see them with me in Manchester which blew his mind and they're now his fave band.

After a while KTF naturally followed along with saturday night and always, becoming some of his faves. The only thing left to do is make him like TD which shouldnt be too hard. Jovi played diamond ring in manchester and he started listening to it a load. I don't think he'll ever like bounce though. He did buy LH and the Circle when they came out which I was quite pleased with. So his Jovi journey is in swing...

PS - Funnily enough, I didn't really guess there was much conversion power in WSYCGH but my mate found it and couldn't believe I hadn't told him about it! He even got into a lot of LH which I didn't particularly like. One wild night and Dirty little secret also really easy to get into.

No - they started as a traditional hard rock blues band - better listen to "Slide it in" or "Lovehunter" - no METAL at all. WIth "1987" they were more commercial but nowhere near Glam or Hair band light stuff.

The self-titled album (one of the most popular of the genre) and Slip of the Tongue are Hair Metal albums.

They had the look and the sound.

Best regards.

They look pretty hair metal here:
That and the fact they're widely known for having some hair metal style.

Look who turn up on the greatest hair metal songs list: http://hubpages.com/hub/The-100-Grea...ir-Metal-Songs

Bon Jovi, Cinderella, Guns n Roses, Van Halen and ooh.... Whitesnake!
