I agree...thats why I say they would seem the more obvious choice above them all.

However, you cannot deny Bon Jovi as a strong contender that is not be overlooked....yes...Jon's voice hasn't been up to par in recent years....but I'd say he earned every bit of recognition for his astounding vocal advancement over the years up to 1997.

I know those of us who were there all along following it were proud of Jon. I remember clearly the first time he really "wowed" me was a few weeks before the infamous 1989 MTV Music Awards. It's never talked about and no one seems to have it available on video (including me, stupidly taped over it back then)....but the first public broadcast of Jon and Richie doing Wanted Dead or Alive acoustically was on a TV special, Free To Be A Family...somewhat of a sequel to the best selling album, Free To Be You and Me, by Marlo Thomas. The premise was a gathering of kids in studios here in America and Russia, linked by satellite, some of who had been corresponding as pen pals. One of the boys was a Bon Jovi fan and had been sending tapes to his Russian pen pal, Serge. They were meeting for the first time via satellite on this show. As special request...Jon and Richie came to the studio to perform for the kids. I was absolutely floored by Jon's vocal performance and thereafter, began to really pay attention whenever they performed live.

It was obvious he had been taking lessons and he was growing by leaps and bounds. So when they performed on MTV later on, by then it was neither new to me or a surprise....just vindication that I was right.....and the great thing was..everyone was talking about it the next day. Richie also finally got some real recognition with many even saying they liked his voice even better. Up till then they were mostly regarded for their looks....they really showed the world what the deal was by getting onstage and proving to the world that Bon Jovi is a force to be reckoned with.

Yes, too bad Jon no longer has the same drive and ambition regarding his voice, nowadays.
